The hardest course I have ever taken. I took this class in the summer, and I think it was not a good idea. A lot of home works. He is a very good statistician guy, but not a good professor. WebAssign is 115.00 and mandatory.

No help when asked. Does not provide any formulas or powerpoint notes to help. Very slow to respond to messages. Continues to tell you when you are wrong instead of providing assistance. Unless you know this I suggest you avoid him.

Great guy. He makes the course very clear and laid out from the start. What I dont like however is the $115.00 webassign key. Other than that, do the work and you will pass. Very good professor.

This was my last class to graduate with my BA. I hate math and this professor made it very possible to pass. The requirements were clear from the very start. Do the work and you will pass. Professor Shenkin is AMAZING!!!!! His class is so easy. He curves. I have always had trouble with math and with him I managed to get an A. you have 5 chances to get the questions correct. It is hard to fail this class. I would definitely take him again!

I took him over winter break because I hate math and couldn't stand doing it all semester long. Anytime I had a question he was pretty quick to respond and helped me through until I got the problem. Very straightforward with his grading. I actually managed an A in math:)

He is a good person. The material is hard to understand sometimes. Come to class and pay attention. He makes more sense in person. Its better than reading slides when you don't understand. It is possible to do well on exams. Learn the r-scripts; it makes tests easier.

He may be boring or may not involve students but he is a fair grader. He gave all the review sheets and sometimes he went through them after classes before the quizzes. Some HWs and quizzes' questions were hard but since every thing was curved so it's no need to worry.

A wonderful delight as a professor at john jay.. which is a surprise. Talk to him 1 on 1 and he will explain everything perfectly. I love and miss this class. Very fun and interesting guy.

If you truly want to learn statistics because it's a useful subject, take it somewhere else. He probably knows his stuff but he is an ineffective communicator. The homeworks don't help you prepare for the exams. You can ace the exams (grossly curved) but still have no idea how to complete the assignments. Paying him is a waste of taxpayer money.

Just finished taking his online class. I'm pretty good at math, so I did well. It was a lot of work (3 hw's and 1 quiz each week, drops lowest quiz or final), but i was expecting that from a winter session anyway. If you are not good at math, do not take it online. He is very good at answering questions, and extending hw deadlines. Caring teacher!

Open notes exams, huge curve, drops the lowest grade, slides to follow the lectures on. R is pretty boring but easy; textbook is pointless; hw solutions are online. Do your best to stay awake in class and you'll love this professor and his grading system.

His exams are hard but he throws a huge curve and as long as you stay above the curve you will do fine. Make sure to make a list of formulas and be highly organized before taking his exams. Lectures are boring like any other stats course. Use Chegg if you need help with webassign homeworks. You can rent the solution book there.

BE CAREFUL TAKING 108 ONLINE WITH HIM DURING THE SUMMER SESSION. IF YOU'RE WEAK IN MATH AND LOOKING FOR AN EASY GRADE,YOU WILL BE LOST. HE CURVES EACH GRADE AND DROPS YOUR LOWEST SCORE (NOT THE HW).THE CURVE IS MINIMAL AT BEST. YOU WOULD BE BETTER OFF TAKING IT DURING THE FULL SESSION AND GETTING TUTORING IN THE MATH LAB.
