She's just not a very good teacher. She always puts students on the spot. Barley teaches anything. All the quizes are purley based on these boring readings. DONT TAKE HER CLASSES if you have a choice

Honestly, Dr. Phillips is the best history professor I've had at Eastern. She actually TEACHES, and she doesn't just love the sound of her own voice, like other history professors I've had here. Her lectures are super interesting, and she assigns a diverse array of material. Her class made me even more interested in Russian history.

Lectures are boring and I can never hear her even though she insists she shouting. She seems to talk a lot without saying much. Also, her TA is sooooo annoying and I think she likes to pretend she's the professor even though she appears to know next to nothing.

She loves to draw attention to herself that is otherwise unneeded. You will find yourself staring out the window. She drags around this troll of a TA who is literally a troll when it comes to grading. Came to class everyday took notes read and then did not learn anything. She talks about living conditions..not history..ya pay attention..

You move through the lectures very quickly! She is very good about explaining everything though. You do a TON of reading in her class... If you don't like reading I don't suggest this class... Other then that, go to class, take notes, READ, and you'll be fine! :)

Great teacher. Only those who hate to learn would dislike her classes. History is not about lists of dates and names; rather, it's a continuing process of discussion and revision about specific TOPICS. Dr. Phillips covers these topics, most of which encompass centuries rather than years or decades. It's real history. Whiners, please grow up.

For winter quarter in History 106 she decided to teach a different way than she usually does. It was bad, I am a history in education major and this class made me question my major. I really disliked it. We jumped around from 1800 to the 1960's just because she thought that some stuff was more importnant than others. I want to know it all!

Great readings for helping grad students develop a better understanding of how professionals "do" history. Rather than dominating class discussions of readings, she facilitates and directs the students' discussion. The only real work, besides reading, is two short papers that require the ability to analyze, synthesize, and apply information.

This class is fun. The teacher is great and she makes the class laugh with her horrible jokes. If you show up everyday and take notes, you'll pass the class. There is no txtbook so pay attention! There's no homework so you only have a paper and two tests. Its easy and she makes the class fun. Take her class you won't regret it.
