Professor Cobb goes on rants that have nothing to do with the material covered on the exams. For the exams, you are required to write an out of class essay, in class essay, and answer the ID's in at least 150 words. He is an extremely tough grader and very hard to talk to outside of class. I would not recommend that ANYONE take this class.

Unnecessarily rigorous and stressful for being a gen ed. Completely understandable to take the topic seriously because this is college but I've never been so unable to focus on anything in my personal life due to course load. And this is only 1 of the 2 classes I'm taking this semester to graduate. I can't even imagine taking this as full time.

Dr. Cobb is a great teacher. He gives you all of the materials and info you need in order to pass. All you have to do is show up, listen, take notes, and reflect on the materials assigned for your papers. He is very reasonable and is fairly willing to take late work, but don't abuse this privilege. If you aren't prepared for his tests, it's on you.

Didn't understand a thing this professor said, he goes on long rants about his life and expects you to teach yourself all of the material. Assigns long papers. Don't take his class

Cobb is very hard to understand, rants about his life, you read from three books BUT he never says which to read from, Literally just drop his class he also makes students pay for his syllabus, so the uni should def. make him leave

As a human being, Cobb is great. If you're one of the many that are forced to take a history credit, DON'T take this guy. He doesn't utilize any technology, and communication with him is literally impossible. It wouldn't be bad if he used Powerpoint, but he goes on 30 minute political rants and gave us diddly squat in terms of notes.

Extremely hard grader and isn't very clear about what he wants. He is very hard to understand and can barely hear. He follows his syllabus spot on but, his papers are hard to keep up. You write ten papers in one semester, not including test papers. You write two papers for his hour exams.

I liked what I learned in this class. But if you're not an arts major then the class seriously sucks. All of his references are towards anyone in the arts. Dance, theater, music, you name it. I couldn't stand listening to the references. There are so many papers too. Way too demanding for a gen ed. Trust me. FIND ANOTHER PROFESSOR

This class is VERY demanding. 10 1000 page papers over the semester. If you are a history buff/major, by all means take this course. If you are like the rest of us and would simply wish to get your gen-eds out of the way, find a different history course. This class alone constituted about 30% of my homework. Cobb is an amazing lecturer though!

an extreme luddite--no use of email and all visual media is via vhs that he shows on a tiny television. the classrooms have computers and big screens but he doesn't know how to use them. pity he hasn't kept up with the history of modern technology.

He is an amazing teacher. He demands that students think, not just memorize. However, if you are not willing to put effort into this class, go find another teacher. Cobb will never spoon-feed you.

I had Dr. Cobb for Honors US Hist since 1876. We didn't work from a textbook, but from three other books, which was nice. It was a lot of reading, and the course was challenging but doable. This isn't high school, so I think it's naive to expect all courses to be cakewalks. I liked the challenge and thought he was fair.

The secret to getting through Cobbs class is your writing. Think out of the box. I did two of my papers in narrative style and turned solid B's into A's. For one paper, I wrote my own version of "A Christmas Carol". DISCLAIMER - I was in his classes from 1989-1992.

Dr. Cobb says one thing yet does another. He expects too much from non-history majors in a gen ed course. He does not teach what is on the exam, & instead preaches liberal propaganda. I have never received lower than a B in my life & I honestly would be screaming with joy if I were to see a "C" on my transcript.

In general his class is hard until you learn his style. He is a dirty old man, and has given examples of his sex life and dating experiences that do not relate to history at all. If you are a pretty girl beware, because his favorite word is "kinky" and he is likely to use YOU in an example.

this man is about to make me drop out of the university completely. i am a senior taking the freshman history course and i cannot keep up. there is too much literature reading and essays are graded poorly. he lectures over one thing, then tests over whatever he feels like in the textbook. too much reading/writing for a 'freshman' course.

He most clearly plays favorites in his class. In his World Civilizations class expect to write an art history paper once a week and if he does not like you...expect to fail
