Took this class 17 years ago and went on to work for Professor Cohen. Continued to law school and became a public defender. And I've been a faculty member at the California Attorneys for Criminal Justice Capital Case Conference--here as I'm typing this. All of this was due to being inspired by Prof. Cohen's lectures.

In this class I was told that I would never amount to anything beyond undergrad. Now I have my masters in Education and have been teaching for two years. One thing I've observed is great teaching, and unfortunately Professor Cohen lacks the pedagogy to differentiate instruction and the inability to provide critical feedback.

Be ready to read and listen. He does not post anything online or use a projector. Everything is either straight out of his mouth or on a caulk board! Old school prof, but a true subject matter expert. Exams are 50/50 from lecture and text so be ready. Even though he does not supply you with outside resources he is willing to answer questions!

Get ready to read 500+ pages of dry but interesting textbook theories. hes overall amazin and knows what hes saying. but glory to those who read ALL the pages in the two books. the class averages on his 55 question MC exams is a c but thanks to the dumbos my c curved to an A-/ B's. exams quite hard due to the infinite info you have to absorb.

Okay, I have no idea what everyone else here is talking about. The TA is rude. Extremely rude and condescending. Cohen's lectures are all over the place and he doesn't cover a lot of material that shows up on your exams. He goes on tangents and never gets back to his original point. Both him and Ali are blatantly rude if you ask questions.

This guy is great! You know exactly what he is looking for and he explains everything very clearly. He is a subject matter expert. 3 exams total that were 50% lecture 50% readings each time. Interesting readings. I hate reading but, enjoyed the ones assigned. He does not answer ?s in class simply 'cause he probably can't see you or your hand!

Professor Cohen is amazing. I had him for 150 in the fall and am currently taking 151 with him. He is extremely clear as to what he expects, so as long as you do exactly what he recommends there is no reason to not do well. Ali was the TA for both classes and is very helpful! I highly recommend :)

challenging class, but great professor. Professor Cohen knows his stuff, and expects you to when he gives out the exams. Read all material and take good notes in lecture. TA Ali was helpful in review sessions. 'In any event(hehe)' I highly recommend taking this course with Professor Cohen.

Early class, but the material was definitely interesting. Professor Cohen is straight-forward with his lectures, really organized and amazingly knowledgeable. READING THE TEXT IS MANDATORY. Exams are 1/2 text, 1/2 lecture.. w/ rarely any overlap until the final. The TA Ali was also knowledgeable and advocated his help. tough class, but eyeopening.

Cohen is an excellent teacher who is extremely knowledgeable in the field. He is a published researcher and quite intimidating but he is organized and tells you only relevant and interesting information. He's a bit grumpy at times but it gives him a great sense of humor. Ali is his awesome TA and his discussions help greatly for exam prep!

Professor Cohen is a fabulous teacher! His class is very challenging but so worth the effort. He is super funny and very helpful. His TA Ali is also very sweet and holds excellent review sessions that you must attend if you want to do well in the class. Read the book thoroughly, attend all lectures, and take excellent notes and you'll be fine! :)

Go to all classes and read the books and it will be fairly easy. I got a B. The first test is easiest, 2nd test a little harder, and the final is real tough. 1st couple tests are mainly from lecture but the last test is split from the book and lecture. Ali the TA is very helpful and holds reviews that you should go to.

Professor Cohen is clear, organized, and teaches with a purpose and expects students to be the same. Attend every lecture, read all assigned readings, and pay attention to every word that comes out of his mouth. Exams require critical reading, lecture attendance, and good planning. Do not fool around in class! Great subject, great Professor.
