Prof. Leviton is extremely knowledgeable on the subject matter, and it shows. He's always upbeat and high-energy, ready to teach about his passion: movies. He's not hard to follow, and always encourages participation. There are some writing-type grades assignments, but he always gives great feedback. My favorite professor at UWSP.

Overall, the course was enjoyable, but a long lecture. Most of the time I didn't feel like I was learning much or something specific. The tests and test materials felt more like trivia questions and class participationsinging occurred in almost every class (was not expecting that!). The class was fairly easy to pass overall.

Dr. Leviton has a unique personality which is hard to get used to, but he's willing to help if you seek it out. Be sure to show up to class otherwise you won't do so well. His lecture can be a little confusing and require a bit of reading, and class participation is a huge factor. I failed because of attendence, don't be me.

Shows interesting clips in class. Even though most of the material is fairly old, it's still enjoyable because it's stuff that you won't do in any other class. Tests and quizzes are fair. Overall he's a really good guy, cares about what he's teaching. You can still do very well in this class without a musical background.

Class time is super boring, just watch video clips whole time. Attendance is mandatory because its the little things he says in class that are on exams. All in all though GREAT GDR for all majors, I'm a bio major and I got an A and I only study a little

There's quite a bit of writing, but reading the books really isn't necessary. As long as you show up to class, the tests are really easy. Even though I do have a decent music background, I don't think you need one to do good in this class. Definitely a GREAT GDR.

Thought this would be a somewhat easy class to take for a GDR. If you are not a music major you may struggle. The study guides are useless, and he is very hard to follow. He doesn't gives you update and expects you to know ALOT about music.

He was very hard to understand in class. He skipped around a lot. His tests were a challenge and don't go off of his study guides at all. If your not a music major he will basically hate you. He assumes that everyone in the class has had college level music classes before when in reality this was supposed to be a GDR. He combines with music 308.

This is the same music in film class as 103 just with a little extra work for music majors/minors. I really enjoyed this class a lot and found it really easy. The reading wasn't too much but some of the articles were old and boring. Have to watch some movies in the library. Quizzes and test are really easy.

you get to watch movies and television for homework. what's cooler than that? plus, "the levitron" sometimes brings in weird instruments or plays the cello. seriously though, movies for homework. easiest A i ever got.

Very passionate about the subject matter; very helpful with any questions. His tests are pretty fair, all you need do is go to lectures and pay attention. It was a pretty fun class overall.

Dreaded going to this class everyday i had it. I only took it for a GDR and if thats what your doing find something else. Laughs at his own jokes and is biased towards known music majors. He also assumes that you know as much about music that he does and is unclear on how to help you study.

Didn't like this class at all. Thought it was very boring and useless. A lot of old articles to read and boring composers to memorize. Find yourself another GDR unless you want to pull your hair out every day in class.
