Comment:
His lectures might have been quite dry at times, but I learnt a lot from them. Since the tests could be open book/notes (just nothing electronic), some questions were obscure, but not extremely hard. Oswalt was a sweetheart; very nice person. It's a shame he's not at FIT anymore.

Comment:
He is very much about teaching the basics. It is good, but he tends to keep the course too basic. It is easy to make over 100's on the exam. He is very nice. Take the course when you have other harder courses to balance it.

Comment:
The lectures are interesting, but a little dry. The tests are open book and open notes, it helps to take notes during lectures. There's a lot of interesting information in the book you won't need for class, but it's a good idea to learn it for the Observational Astronomy class all Space Science majors are required to take the next year.

Awwww, poor Terry. I liked him. His class was interesting, but it is my major. As long as you read the book and take good notes you should be fine. His eyes are so huge!

Comment:
Very, very, very boring lectures. Good idea to take notes (stuff he covers is not always in the book). Homework is mandatory, but not really useful for learning the material. The tests are all open book/note, but not everything can be looked up in the book. He doesn't seem to have much interest in teaching, so not very exciting.

Comment:
Often when a question relating to the lecture is asked, Oswalt will respond with "We'll get to that in a few chapters", or "That's a higher level question". This is extremely annoying. His lectures can be extremely boring at times. Occasionally an entire hour will be spent on one or two slides. Additionally, the material is dumbed down, which makes it even more boring. But, with that said, Dr. Oswalt is a nice man, he is easy to approach, and his tests are open notes and textbook.

wow he is one of the worst lecturers, but a good way to know if you DON'T want to be an astrophysics/astronomy major.

love his style-->doesn't encourage note-taking as much as paying attention and learning the material right then and there rather than go to class simply to collect notes to "study" later. open book tests i think make the tests harder, and it's a crutch most lean on too much so don't learn enough

Once upon a time before switching to powerpoint was a great teacher. Now he just talks about his slides, not very engaging.
