Larry is the definition of a stand up guy, UVic is truly at a loss without him. He moulded the lives of so many, and as everyone else has eluded he inspires the critical thought that other courses couldn't be bothered to entertain. To view the world through the eyes of Larry, indeed!

Warning! Heavy workload. Requires lots of reading and mandatory field trip attendance (75% of classes were field trips). Extremely knowledgeable instructor. Expects a lot. Worth taking if you're interested in the course material. Do not take this class as an elective!

What a fantastic instructor! I was initially intimidated by the amount of work and the self direction involved in the course, but you definetly get what you put in. I found it frustrating at times, but I've never learned more in a course in my life. Larry sparked my interest in planning!

Larry McCann is one of the best professors I've ever had, he's very knowledgeable and will always take the time to talk to you if you don't understand material or need help on projects. He's a hard marker but if you work hard and participate then you should have no problem getting a good mark (that should be obvious).

GO TO CLASS! There is no online lecture material, he uses old school slide projectors and rambles instead. He is very knowledgeable but marks really hard and expects a lot from you. As someone who has actually been involved in real urban planning projects and loved it, he actually kind of turned me off planning as a career...

lectures are different. uses the old school style of overhead and slideshows of his vacations. needs to learn POWERPOINT. his assignment marking is harder than usual! expect a 10% mark drop from what you expect ur letter grade to be! fair prof. final is do-able and fair.

Overrated. He makes comments that he thinks are profound, but they just leave you hanging. Casually skims the course topics in lecture with slides of his vacations. Lectures need a lot more structure, there is just too much rambling.

I took all of the classes taught by Larry. I was truly inspired by his approach and his depth of knowledge. He inspired me to enroll in a planning Masters program. He is the best prof I've ever had on a number of levels. I highly recommend his one of a kind classes.

good prof if you study and care about the subject, but his **** remarks get SOOOOO tiring! he laughs after saying stupid things, and it's obvious that he knows he's being an ass, but he just doesn't care because he thinks it's funny. it isn't, it's **** and dumb.

Phenomenal professor who inspires and challenges. He takes post-secondary education to the next level, making you critically think and see the world in a different context. Everytime I fly over a city I wonder what Dr. McCann would have to say!

Savior your classes with McCann because there aren't any professors that present the material with the same passion he does. He inspires individual thought and listens to what students have to say. I've gone on to do grad studies, but haven't found a prof as good, or as interesting.
