Wonderful professor! Lots of homework and the material is difficult...but its Chemistry so don't expect anything else. She is really helpful if you're stuck on something and she is very nice. Attending lectures is a must though, she doesn't take attendance but you'll be lost beyond imagine if you don't go.

Comment:

A nice lady who is interested in her subject. She is very willing to assist after class but won't curve grades PERIOD. Take care to avoid the summer sessions as they are needlessly difficult. Labs were awkward and graded rather haphazardly. Study till you DREAM about this stuff or test questions will gut you! Very little ex-cred opportunities.

This woman is a saint. The first time I took chem I failed it -- however I needed it for my bio major so I retook with her. She makes everything into Zombie/ Starwars/ food metaphors -- I actually enjoyed this class! Do all the suggested questions, her test questions are just like them. LOVE. HER.

Took this class in the summer. practice practice practice chem problems before tests. Her tests are doable ONLY if you prepare a lot for them. EXTREMELY difficult grader on labs watch your sig figs! She once told our class she wanted to see how many red pens she could get through by the end of the summer...

This woman is an absolute GENIUS. The literally radiates intelligence from the moment she speaks! She loves chemistry, which really helps you learn and explains things SO well! Her goal is to help you understand and she is so patient with her students! I hated chemistry, but now I like it! I wish she taught lower level courses! Such a great prof!

Awesome teacher! She explains the material very well and is very concerned with your understanding.She's a hard grader and is very particular. She does give partial credit and extra credit for test questions that you create but its extremely hard to obtain all poss. points. She's really sweet though and you can tell she loves what she does.

The only class at mary washington that is harder than pchem lecture is pchem lab. Dont be fooled by her size or enthusiastic demeanor, this class is no joke. Study hard and visit her often... and try not to be thrown off by the number of students crying in her office

Most people that are horrified of chemistry skip town after organic, not realizing that they hadn't even seen the beast that physical chemistry can be. Only chem majors will have to hurdle this monster, here's a tip: listen to Dr. G., she's the person who knows what it takes to pass her class. It's a hard class....you've been warned.

I retook this class with Dr. Giancarlo and she was 100 percent better. She doesn't sugar coat things and you have to work hard but it will pay off! She is enthusiastic and knows how to teach. She is really helpful and doesn't make you feel stupid. She actually made me like Chemistry! TAKE HER!!!

her tests are impossible. even if you understand the material and think you'll do well, you do horribly becuase the questions somehow trick you. her enthusiasm and confidence in you is fake. she is nice but thinks she's perfect. and stuff is just too hard. take her anyway though...

She teaches from ppt and adds nothing new to the lecture. She works out example problems that never show up on the test. Her tests are extremely difficult. However, her personality makes the class great. Take her. She will help you learn in her office hours even if class isn't that helpful. So definitely register for her and GO to the office hours.

She has a terrible approach to teaching. It seems she cares more about herself than anything else. She prides herself on how "evil" everyone says she is. She talks about her mean comments on this website every chance she gets. Instead of trying to motivate students, shes more concerned with trying to scare them. *DON'T RECOMMEND*

Fantastic gen chem teacher, she is clear and explains things very well. Extremely helpful and has candy in her office. Lots of math, but she does lots of examples, so you get what she is talking about. Very energetic and enthusiastic. TAKING GEN CHEM---MUST TAKE DR. GIANCARLO!! She is the best!
