He is a decent professor, but a terrible human being. If you slightly mess up, he will ridicule you in front of the entire class and talk down to you like you're 5. Definitely do NOT recommend

He is an awesome professor, and an excellent adviser. His class is one you should not take if you just want to slack off. So be prepared to work hard, and study really hard. He wants you to succeed, especially on his tests. 9/10 times after his lecture he tells you what to study for the test.

In Intro, his tests are dif. but not impossible. In Rep. 1, just do the work a journalist should do and you'll be fine. His classes are NOT for slackers, and he'll probably call you out if you are one. Journalism majors: He's an extremely helpful advisor. He wants to see you succeed and he'll push you to do so. Super helpful for journ majors!

This class was soooo hard and the exams are so large that they often take longer then the time given to take them. He can be funny if you are the kind of person who takes things with a grain of salt. He was very nice to me because I showed up to class and did the reading assignments ended the class with an A-. Easy if you are willing to work for it

Very intimidating. Types a packet with quoted phrases of student mistakes (with students name next to it). Only way to survive is take the packet and class as a joke and JUST LAUGH IT ALL OFF.Very unfair grader. Gave me Cs on all my papers yet recommended me as a writer for the campus newspaper.I'm that good yet deserved a C? Thanks for a lower GPA

Lee Wood can be a bit rough around the edges - especially to non-journalism students - but for those planning on a career in the field, just look at the writers graduating this school compared to similar colleges and see the difference.

Lee is a great professor. Not a lot of people like him because he doesn't put up with slackers. If you do the work you're supposed to do, he will do everything in his power to help you. He loves to teach anything journalism and has the real world experience to back it up. I feel lucky to have had the opportunity to have his as a professor.

Lee Wood was a very good professor. He's not for everyone, hence his mixed reviews on this site. His tests are hard and he grades very tough. But if you sit in his class and listen to what he says, you can take a lot away from him. Regardless if he can write or not, he's very humorous and his teaching tactics are effective.

Lee is a good teacher if you can take him with a grain of salt. Yeah, he can be rude sometimes, but he only does it to help you in the long run. Granted, most of his "methods" are out of date, but they have other practical meaning. If you're serious about Journalism, take him. you'll learn a lot.

Very good professor that helped me to develop the thick skin needed to work in journalism. He is very tough, but as far as classes go, I've never learned more. He picked everything I did apart, and I am grateful to this day. If you can't take sarcasm or the blunt truth, don't take him. But, if you're willing to work and you want to learn, take him.

Very strange, rude, moody man. He blurs the line between professor and student, even going so far as to make fun of students behind their backs. His expectations are unclear and usually unreasonable. If you're serious about journalism, go to a different college.

By far one of the worst people i've ever met. To tell students that they have no future is neither constructive nor positive, and Lee, by the way, I'm not a successful political operative with a bright future in Washington D.C. I talked to a few of his collegues at tribune-democrat, they all said he sucked as a writer. I encourage all going to UPJ, stay away from Lee Wood.

Great guy, funny, and uses the same tests for YEARS so just find someone who took it in a previous year. I got a 100 on every test and ruined curve for rest of class. Loved participating and "yelling back and forth" He will make you think and push you to your limits I LOVED IT
