Prof. Travers is clearly very passionate about history. He does his best to make lectures interesting. There are three tests, two short papers and one longer one. He grades the papers kind of tough, but if you go to class and pay attention the tests are a breeze.

Comment:

Professor Len Travers was absolutely one of the best professors (if not THE best) I have ever had. He is able to condense and communicate a lot of information effectively and he even makes his lectures extremely interesting. Knowledgeable, organized, funny, caring, and punctual he is what every professor should aspire to be :)

Absolutely amazing professor. I have taken two classes with him and plan to take another. Very informative, lively and easy to follow. He enjoys giving papers but in history you have to write a lot anyways. The reading material is usually pretty interesting and tests are always from lecture notes.

He is such a kind and relaxed teacher and advisor. I feel lucky to have somebody like him as a professor. He is very routine and clear with no real surprises. His projects are interesting and he certainly knows what he is talking about. I recommend him highly to anyone with an interest in history.

Took him for Piracy--LOVED that class. Lectures were both educational and hilarious. Only a mid-term and final, with a few very short papers along the way. Gives many extra credit opportunities. Take this class!!!

I have taken two of Traver's classes and am about to take my third next semester. He is my favorite professor at UMD. He is super enthusiastic, friendly, and always goes out of his way to help his students. Take one of his classes if you have the chance!

I love this man! I have taken two classes with him and am about to take two more. He is funny in a goofy way and loves when students interact. He is a tough grader, but you will get the hang of it. Once you know what he wants you to do it is SO easy. He is understanding if you are a hard worker but screw up on something. He is just a great guy.

Prof. Travers is really passionate about history and tries to make class fun. There are weekly online quizzes and we use the book a lot. It's a fun class but there is a lot of information and when it comes to the essays he expects the best. If your into history take his course but be prepared to always go to class or you'll miss what's important.

Len is amazing. I was never a big history person but i met him last year and thought 'I need to take a class with this guy'. He is tough but willing to help you if you need it. he is funny and intelligent. you will not meet a better teacher.

Best history teacher I have ever had. He's hilarious, makes class fun and knows what he's talking about. Workload is not unreasonable, and you WANT to do it because you enjoy class so much. Any history major or minor MUST take at least one class with him before they graduate.
