This guy has got so many funny stories about when he was back in prison. If you take him, get him to tell you the story about his first cell mate. I almost died laughing.

Terrible, criminally bad professor. Lectures consist of reading from an old outdated book. When confronted about his teaching method, he got very angry and defensive. He also spent 3 months in prison for lying for grant money, which shows you his character. He should not be teaching.

I have to say he is one of the worst professors I have even seen in Madison. He is quite funny though. But his teaching is terrible. I can barely understand class materials because those are quite tough and he does not explain clearly. Maybe most of the professors who teach 376 just do like that. The exams are easy. Just study hard by yourself.

Comment:

Great guy, very funny and truly cares about the success of the student. Lecture may not always be necessary but tests are very fair and feature problems very similar to the homework. All homework problems are straight from the book and is where you learn the most. He arrived and finished a few minutes late on most days, that was his only downfall.

Shohet was by far the worst professor I had at UW - Madison. He was late to every lecture, and would literally come in, set our textbook on the document camera, and read from it to us. Luckily, the TA will grade all the HW and write the exams, so create a good relationship with them and you will be fine.

Reads often just froom the textbook. Likes to write down things on the board you cannot read. Rater does not pay much attention to your homeworks. At the beginning easy homeworks. At the end suddenly leaves the textbook and gives homework that is without higher electromagnetic theory skills not to handle.

Worst professor I've ever had. Text okay as a reference, poor as a teaching tool, yet he spends class reading directly from it. Often late to class and cancels office hours. Doesn't pace well through material. Homework problems all straight from book and on material we haven't covered in class. Exam questions not representative of content. Avoid!!

Terrible Professor. Consistently late to class, exams mostly cover what has not been covered in class or homework. Takes a subject that could be interesting and makes it boring, and, thanks to an error-riddled textbook (we're talking almost 20 pages of errata from the first hundred pages of the book. Really?), incomprehensible. Avoid if possible

25% of each exam was material not covered very well, or at all in class. A great TA and the solutions manual are the only reasons I got an A. Incredibly unhelpful and unwilling to facilitate understanding through working problems. Consistently 5-10 minutes late every day, consistently wasted lecture and unable to answer questions.
