Leo is really hard. I did the work, went to his office hours, became his friend and still barely scraped by. He gives extra credit to his favorites so you need to participate and suck up to him which I hate. There were 100+ kids in my lecture class and he gets off topic and the tests are never based on his lectures, only on the online text book!

Leo is a great professor. For the HIS102 class, he makes it an easy A. There's little homework, reasonable papers and tests, but he's not hard to impress. He makes lectures fun. He doesn't require a textbook, which is awesome! One thing he emphasizes is remembering the years in which events happened, which isn't too bad. Don't drop this class.

For the first time in a long time, I actually enjoyed a history class. His lectures are long but he knows how to make things interesting and keep the class laughing and having fun. He grades hard but if you do the work, show up and maybe use a recorder for the lectures, you'll do just fine. Ask a question and he'll help you work out the answer.

Worst class ever, it was a lecture class but he jumps around too much. He also never gives clear answers to questions students have. He always says "I'm getting to it" and never does. The e-text book is required but you use it for one quiz. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. IT IS NOT AN EASY A!

He's nice but he doesn't give notes and you basically will fail every test unless you put in an insane amount of effort. He is WAY too all over the place and hard to follow.

His teaching method is different but if you pay attention and engage in class it makes sense. He has a high knowledge of Latin History and has a great sense of humor. He makes sure that you eventually engage in class and gets to know everyone by name which is important for a teacher student relationship. All you have to do is show him you care.

Leo is a nice guy, but is horrible as a professor. Simply the worst professor in the historydept. Classes disorganised, unprofessional. Zero resepct for his profession. He is not a professor you want as an advisor or to have anything to do with your academic futures. If your looking to get a history degree avoid his classes.

Great guy, a person I feel like I could trust and I think that's important in a professor. His lectures are intriguing and not boring. Although don't get caught sleeping/ daydreaming/ texting/talking cause he gets distracted and will probably roast you. I'd take another Leo class for sure; great experience.

Pretty terrible teacher, but if you have to take the class make sure to sit up front, ask a ton of questions and seem interested. His lectures are semi interesting but he goes wayyy off topic so you're going to need to read the book to pass the tests and papers. Attendance is not mandatory but he won't like you or help you out much if you skip.

I did receive a B- in History 482 of Leo's class. The hard part is that he did not give us a syllabus which really hurt students in our class because he would come up with assignments 4 days after our class that met 1 night a week had already met. He gave our class a week before finals a 7-10 page paper to do, without previous warning.

Horrible teacher. This tests are near impossible and he tests you on information you have never discussed. The textbook is worthless. The quizzes are easy but you only have 3 and the 1st essay is also near impossible. Do NOT take a class with him. He is the most confusing professor I have ever had.

I personally hated this class and his professor. He is unclear about his notes. He is VERY unorganized and skips around when he speaks. He never answers his e-mails when help is needed. Do not take his class.

(Intro to Latin American Civilization) Hernandez is great. I personally despise history but enjoyed his class. Find a good way to take notes and this will be an easy class. If you think something is weird, odd, or anything QUESTION HIM. He loves when students are involved and it really helps to understand the subject. All questions welcome.

Lectures are long, boring, and tend to make little to no sense. His strong accent and poor grammar makes note taking difficult during class, and understanding test questions nearly impossible, sometimes. Will often attack students who check their phone during class with a juvenile "get out!", even though student was not noticeable or a distraction.

One of the most frustrating Professors I've ever had! I took History of Latin American Civilizations and our in class discussions never had a strait forward answer. We were told to buy a $70 ebook he was in the process of writing himself! He grades alright but I honestly can't say I learned anything from his class. Avoid it if possible.

Lectures are super boring and hard to pay attention to. The tests are on the textbook, not the lectures. There are some online quizzes but there are only five questions on each and you only get one attempt, so it makes it hard to get a good grade. I would only take this class with him if you're really good at history.

Awesome class. Hung onto every word during the lectures. Disappointed that this class was only a one semester survey course, because I definitely wanted to know more. Hardly any homework assignments except for one huge reading. Exams aren't cumulative so studying is more concise. Would take class again if I could!
