I really liked him. There are pop quizzes but if you look at the dates when he plans to finish each chapter on the syllabus you can assume when he is going to give them. Quizzes are usually taken from class examples. Tests are fair. He tells you what is going to be on them so if you pay attention in class you should be fine

Very clear about what you can expect on the tests and points out example problems on PowerPoint notes (which he gives you) that are similar to what's on the test. As long as you study on your own what he tells you to you should get an A.

He is a good professor but he does not use webcourses. Chernyak is very fair and respectful and as long as you give him the respect back, all will be well. If you put some effort into the class you should be fine. He reads of the PowerPoint but manages to explain the material very wall, he knows his stuff.

He does read from his powerpoints usually. The course might seem intimidating at first but after reviewing the material it's not that bad. Tests are pretty clear cut and to the point. Exactly what you expected to be on them, overall not too bad.

Reads straight of PowerPoints, and test are nothing like what he covers in class. Very rude, specially in his office hours. Only positive thing to say about him is you get a cheat sheet on the test.

Would get really upset at the students that skipped so he'd give pop quizzes randomly to try to curb it. Still barely showed up and did well though since he basically tells you what's on the test. Not horrible at teaching but frequently assumes that you know the material already for some reason. Not the worst choice by far

I have to disagree with previous comments. The test questions were not similar to lecture examples, powerpoints, or the textbook. It was a very hard class and Prof Chernyak is extremely disrespectful. Try to avoid him if you can. I hardly passed with a C and I usually get A's in engineering classes.

Examples given in lecture match up well with what is on tests. Homework problems also help to prepare well for the test. Tests are very fair and sometimes they are curved. You get to use a formula sheet so as long as you fully understand the concepts taught in class and how to relate them, you will do very will in his class. Gives pop quizzes.

Tests are easy (3 in total), as you are given a one page cheat sheet. I did mess up on the third one and the final though, so I did not got an A. Does give a couple of pop quizzes, and homework is very minimal. Study.

Tests are straight out of the powerpoint and quizzes. (These are questions selected from the back of the chapter). He gives quizzes at the end of each chapter. You can't use cheat sheet for those, but he lets you make your own cheat sheet, for the exams (there are three) and the final. You can also use the sheet from the previous test on the next.

Very easy class. Lectures were very clear and easy to take notes of. Let the class use formula sheets for every exam. 85 is an A.

I had Physics 1,2 and 3 for engineers which Leonid Chernyak back between 2000-2005. His teaching style was OK mostly lectures. We quickly learned that ALL of his exam questions were 100% from the problems at the end of the chapters in the book. So all we had to do was study those and you would ace the exams. I got an A in all 3 physics classes!

Very straightforward expectations and grading. Was usually reading off of powerpoint slides, so lectures got boring, but tests/quizzes had similar questions. The lab covered material 2-3 weeks ahead of the lecture, so I sometimes had to teach myself the material in advance. I recommend his class overall though.

His lectures are just him going over his powerpoints which he later on just gives to you. He gives 8 quizzes a semester and they are straight from the PWPoint. I thought the tests were easy because they were straight from PWPoint. Don't even buy the book. He's also rude. He is just there for research. Just do well on tests and lab and you got an A.

I had to learn everything outside of class. He makes generally simple concepts sound very complicated. It also takes some time to get used to his accent. He provides plenty of grades not related to exams, but does not care about the class at all. He knows what he's talking about, but he's so rude and arrogant about it. Yelled and cursed at us a lot

Your first thought is, "uh oh, this guy seems really tough." He can be, but honestly his quizzes and tests are not completely out of the blue. He's tough because he cares. Just make sure you remember things you have learned in previous math classes. Attendance isn't mandatory but he will have quizzes so it's in your best interest to go to class.

Chernyak is a relatively easy professor, he provides different "flavors," of problems that might show up on exams. As an indvidual however, he is very rude and difficult to talk to, especially during office hours. He once closed the door on me after he arrived 30 mins late, he then had me stand for a discussion rather than offering me a seat.

He really isn't that bad. His attitude is a little offensive, but if you have any sense of humor you'll prbly end up enjoying it. Allows formula sheets for tests and gives easy tests. Pop quizzes are difficult, but I failed most of them and still got an A. Glad I took him.

For physics 2, you could get worse. For the most part I understood his teaching, and was able to learn the rest from the book. Do the homework as soon as it's available to prepare for pop quizzes. He allowed us to have a formula sheet for tests which was very helpful.

He is by far the WORST professor I have had at UCF so far. He is extremely boring and does not care about his students at all. He words questions on his exams so awkwardly that makes it seem harder than it really is. You are better off teaching yourself then trying to learn from him!
