Its so far only a few weeks in and I already cant stand this professor, she retired and still teaching. In class she doesnt explain her questions clear enough and we should be able to read her mind. Shes rude, and she has an outdated textbook and shes incapable of putting a test together. I am told not to talk as much , later told talk more.

Comment:

Cheryl is clear about what she looks for in assignments/anything and I rarely questioned about what she wanted. Participate & speak up in class as your points heavily matter on that. I learned a lot from her class, but would not go through the struggle again. She is a unique person to say the least.

Comment:

Research seminar is a a senior level capstone class and is very difficult. Cheryl is an extremely tough grader, and makes you work for you grades. She is retiring this year so incoming students won't have to worry about this. The class overall is a really great class and you will learn a lot!

The social work department has lost students because of this professor. Other ones too but she is the worst. Do not take her. I hear she got even worse after I left. She marks papers down and doesn't say why. She says something like if you don't know then you are in the wrong program. She has tenure. They can't get rid of her.

Cheryl is a great professor. She's very approachable and provides applicable knowledge as to what it is like to be a social worker in the field. If you are struggling, just go to her office to talk, she's very helpful!

Dr. Byers is good about returning emails, calls, & answering discussion questions. Nevertheless, she is a difficult grader, inflexible, and somewhat impersonal. Syllabus & directions extremely detailed, but not always clear. Even as a straight A student, I struggled for my grade - keep up & plan to do extra credit work if you want to do well!

Ms. Byers isn't the easiest teacher, but you do learn a lot. She doesn't sugar coat much, instead she gets right to the point. I enjoyed her as an instructor. Thank-you for challenging me!
