Like the other raters have posted, he is pretty much blind and deaf, and will occasionally make a small error in class, but is great otherwise.

He is a pretty decent professor. He his nearly blind and deaf, so he makes mistakes sometimes in lecture (if you try to help and correct him, you could lose 5 minutes trying to explain the error). His tests are usually pretty straight forward if you understand the homeowork. He posts a lot of old tests on blackbaord which is very helpful.

Alt is a great teacher and bases most of the circuits in math, since he was a math teacher before EE, rather than looking at what type it is...i'm talking about 1st and 2nd order circuits. Believe it or not that's more helpful than going through all the crap of series-parallel. Let the math work for you.

Just goes over the slides which he gives you so make it pretty pointless to go other than to turn in homework. He complains to the class about something everyday. Takes a long time to get tests and quizzes returned.

Nice guy....just not that good of a teacher. Not that clear about what he teaches. Stands in your way as you try to read the board, and his stomach usually erases it before you see it. Makes test material too hard compared to homework. But always willing to Help

Alt is pretty unorganized but his tests are easy and he lets you know exactly what's going to be on them so if you go to class and pay attention it's really not that big of a deal. You have to try pretty hard to keep up with him sometimes.

HE DOESN'T EXPLAIN ANYTHING AND HE MAKES 500 MISTAKES EVERY CLASS PERIOD. HE THINKS 2 LOOKS LIKE A 5 AND HE JABBERS ON ABOUT STUFF THAT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE CLASS MATERIAL. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Ignore the comments for EE 281. They are not interested in the class and blame everything on him. Alt is a really good teacher. Much better than my circuits I teacher. His homework prepares you all you need for his tests. Do the homework and find last years homework files to help you out. Do his practice tests. I got a 99 in the course. Trust me.

He is a lazy, pathetic, worthless excuse for a prof. He says he will have something done, but never does, frequently makes mistakes, and can't hand back the tests in a reasonable amount of time. Further more, he isn't even on campus Tuesdays and Thursdays. If possible, avoid like the plague. I don't one single solitary redeming thing to say....

He's a decent guy, no doubt about it. I did very well in the class too. Assignements are clear and help a lot with the test. But he ramples for long periods of times during the class (things that have nothing to do with the lecture so i feel like I'm wasting my money). Also he sucks at getting back out tests on time! (like tests 3 weeks late!)

Don't listen to the 281 comments. They don't like the class and blame him. Great teacher for 153. Homework is very helpful. Office hours are 8-9am which is good for his 9am class.

hes absolutly didnt care to teach this class and it shows. not particularly hard, but hes pretty worthless if you try to learn from his lectures. he also absolutly does not shut up during tests, talks for about 20 minutes about all the errors he made making the test so that you can correct them

The man needs to learn how to add. It helps in order to teach. You start off thinking he's a cool guy, but by day three you're banging your head on the desk praying that the burnt chili you'll eat at lunch will char the general sense of brainless boredom from your mind. (You tend to have a lot of time during class to build vocabulary.)

Comment:
biggest problem is only being on campus 3 days a week, but otherwise ok. Online notes are incomplete for a reason, because they are to be filled in during class. Is not easy, but students that go to class and do the homework usually do well in this class. Old test files very helpful.
