Leslie has an incredibly ability to focus on her students and give thorough feedback; she is a harsh critic, but for all the right reasons.

Very nice woman who is always willing to help you. That being said, there is nothing creative about her creative writing class. She has a formula for the writing she likes, makes her students stick to it, and is close minded about anything else. She openly denounces any experimentation, which shows the current sorry state of CW professors. Easy A

I don't know about her creative writing classes, but she didn't know anything about science in her "evolution and literature class." You simply went to class and listened to her repeat the same crap over and over again, but never really knew what was going on. And you never knew your grades.

Pseudoscience ahoy. But I guess it should have been expected from a humanities class on "science".

Leslie will teach you that memoir isn't what you think it is. Puts a great deal of emphasis on theme and scene. I enjoyed most of her reading list but wish that more would have been done with the readings in class. Leslie makes great comments on drafts and is very helpful. Be prepared to make a lot of edits to your drafts.

Leslie breaks writing down into a science. Her memoir class is excellent. Not at all arrogant, she doesn't hesitate to admit when she doesn't know something. Read her memoir.

This woman is strong, funny, & really knows her field. She pushes hard, but you'll find there's almost no way your writing won't have improved after taking her courses. (She can also handle her Tequila and hold her own in an all male push-up contest:)

Extremely nice professor. Goes out of her way to be helpful - if you show you're making an effort. The class is a bit wacky...
