Sociology of Religion was a great course. Meaningful project that I'll always remember. Left with a real appreciation of religion's role in society--for good and bad and learned a lot of cool stuff about new religious movements (cults).

BE AWARE this class includes a very in-depth final project that takes forever to finish. Definitely not an easy A, but Dr. S is a good teacher and the exams aren't difficult. That final project is just a pain in the butt. You'll have fun if you like soc, otherwise find an elective elsewhere.

Dr. Stanley-Stevens is wonderful. I had her last semester and would recommend her to anyone! I learned so much in that class and live my life in a different mind set because of the class. I actually decided to add a minor of sociology after taking the class!!!

Her class in interesting but can be tough. Read the book (it's a lot but it helps) and understand all the readings. Her tests are straightforward (multiple choice and short answer) but in order to do well, you must know everything she goes over in class and in the book. You must work for your grade but overall a good class.

You won't like her if you regard her lectures as opinions, if you miss a lot of class, if you have thin skin or are sensitive, if you want to be treated like a baby and not a college student EARNING a degree. I've had her for 3 classes and she is consistent, organized, and cares if you learn something. A good professor in my book!

Sociology of the Family is a great course. You learn about families in general but can apply a lot of it to your own life. Dr. S is fantastic. The best of the sociology professors, and that's saying a lot.

She explains things well, gives detailed course schedules & tons of handouts. Do the readings, show up for class, & participate & u will do well. Her demeanor can be deceiving bc she will cut u off if u talk too much or get off topic but she just has a lot to cover in a little amount of time. She cares if u succeed so go talk to her if u need to!
