Very well organized and makes the course very easy to understand. He doesn't just read from power points but actually makes his own examples and diagrams which are very helpful. I don't know why more people aren't talking about him because his class is excellent.

Best prof hands down. His material is easy to comprehend. His lectures are engaging and easy to follow. Grading in his course is clear and if you follow guidelines as written - you'll get an A. Gives practice exams and tests and gives you the best material to prepare well for them.

Hands down one of the best professors I have ever had, super nice, very clear and a good sense of humour. I had taken the course previously with a professor I found to be very difficult, forcing me to drop halfway through. This time the instructor was fantastic and with my limited background in Java I got a very good grade.

Very clear concise and detailed. Prepares you well for exam and midterm. Very good in class practice and examples. Extremely detailed with syntax (good for multiple choice questions), explains dos and don'ts. Highly recommended.

Great teacher although CPS393 can be a tough one if you don't have prior programming knowledge. I had difficulty in the Unix section as notes are not provided by the instructor and missing a comma or period here and there can totally mess-up the code. I really enjoyed being in this class and learnt a lot. Grading is not too bad and exams are good

Awesome lecturer, sometimes takes a poll of the class to see what topics need most attention. Very clear and thorough when he answers questions and explains concepts. Tests are a little questionable but they're written by the coordinator, not Dr. Hiraki, and he prepares you well for them.

Explains things very well, and if you don't understand it he takes the time to explain it perfectly without focusing so much on your question that the rest of the class is bored. Tests are very fair and if you do the practice labs and understand them you'll be good for the exams and assignments.

This professor explains things pretty well. And much of what is on the exam is from class. But he is a HORRIBLY strict grader. Plus the second textbook to learn C from is a classic (cuz the authors invented the C Language) but is, once again, HORRIBLE to learn from. What were they thinking? Its more of a reference than a learning book!

Knows how to teach! Boggles the mind why he's not been hired full-time with some more perks.. His tests are hard, but I've never learned this much in a course before. You will learn to love to hate 6809, it'll bring the class together.
