He's in the military and is very involved in government - he knows his stuff. Very knowledgeable and approachable. Post-Election, he's been great. He doesn't take a side. "Now, I'm looking at this empirically..." Yeah, class attendance is graded and pretty much mandatory. BUT he has to travel a lot so he cancelled class at least 4 times.

The quizzes are on the readings you are supposed to do for class. Tests are ok as long as you study and are familiar w/ the definitions. It isn't hard to make note cards. The essays on the test are hard, but he gives you the question in advance or tells you what to look at. He basically spells out everything you need. You just have work a bit.

Avoid this professor at all costs. Quizzes are awful, tests are extremely difficult. Irwin makes his own definitions which makes his tests nearly impossible to pass.

Dr. Irwin is a very nice man and does in fact know a lot about Government but I feel like the only thing I learned in his class was about his personal life and his family. He doesn't teach very well. Also, expect pop quizzes (on NOTHING he taught you ) all the time. I wouldn't recommend taking him if you actually want to learn.

Dr. Irwin is a great professor. At first I was weary of him because he has a tough demeanor. But, as long as you are on time and contribute to class he will instantly like you. His lectures are interesting and clear, his tests are easy with a little preparation (he provides a study guide), and his grading is tough, but fair and predictable.

Dr. Irwin is super hot and his class is really interesting. Tests are easy as long as you study a little, the essay question is either given or easy to guess. no homework and one pop quiz per block, but you can usually guess when that is too.

The lectures are kinda boring but he is overall a nice guy. There's no homework and the tests are super easy as long as you do a lil bit of studying. He gives you a sheet with everything thats going to be on the test. Your grade depends on how much you are willing to study, even though the tests are easy. He will give you help if you need it.

I know you've heard how horrible SPE is, but he makes it really interesting and the tests are not bad at all. I got an A just paying attention in class and never did the readings.
