Very nice guy but he grades extremely hard. I think he often forgets that people that take some of his classes are not philosophy or religion majors. Be prepared!

Stephens tries to explain things in the most confusing way possible. After every lecture you are lost and his tests are worse. He uses so many double negatives it's impossible to find what he's asking. Also he doesn't respond to emails so reaching him outside of class is impossible. Would not recommend to anybody.

Terrible professor!! very conceited. couldnt stop talking about his "earned doctorate in philosophy." and how he liked being in singapore because the students there were (correctly) in awe of him and his earned doctorate. Terrible teaching style and unaproachable. Not open to contradicting questions at all. easy class but HORRIBLE prof

I have a great deal of respect for Dr. Stevens and would recommend his classes. He is open to dialogue and is willing to spend time with his students. My biggest complaint it that he has begun to use powerpoint way too much. It hinders his creativity and stifles discussion.

Dr. Stevens was the reason I minored in philosophy. He's challenging and loves to digress, but usually finds a way to tie it all together. If you are into abstract thought and challenging argument, take his classes.

I took this class during J-term and it was awful. I recieved an A, but didn't learn anythingbecause he talked about sex and his summer jobs as a college student most of the time. We didn't even get to Plato or Aerostotle, or any other important philosophers. Take another teacher if possible.

Stevens is an amazing teacher. He goes beyond facts and focuses on concepts. If you need extra help, he will give it. He genuinely makes an effort to see students as people, not just another name in the grade book.
