Great prof. She is very passionate about what she teaches. She gets really excited when people participate. Sometimes goes of off on a tangent but her lectures are interesting. She allows you to revise your written assignments and gives extra credit opportunities.

Comment:

This class overall wasn't bad. Only two tests and a 10 hour civic engagement project with a book, 6 page paper, and poster presentation. I found her confusing at times and class felt long and boring due to my lack of interest. However it wasn't too tough to get a good grade.

Dr Butenhoff was a solid professor. She will help out if you have any questions. Lectures were decent but does go off topic here and there. Overall two exams apparently no one ever received less that a 70% on her quizzes in our class. I never even studied for them. But pay attention to her lectures. PowerPoints are all online to follow along

Comment:

This class was really boring to me because of low interest in the subject and it was a lot more work than expected. Butenhoff is a helpful professor when you ask and tests aren't too hard(there's 2). The class consisted of picking a topic, reading a book and volunteering 10 hours dealing with that topic then writing a 6-10 page paper and a poster.

Insanely nice and beyond helpful. If you get the option to choose essay tests, ALWAYS DO IT! She gives you feedback and allows you to edit based on her comments and then turn the test back in to get a higher score. Awesome prof.

GLST 195 is a good class & a great way to fulfill goal areas. Professor Butenhoff is very clear in her grading and although the lectures can get long it is an overall interesting class. Class grade is made up of two exams and a ten hour service project paired with an eight page paper. I would recommend taking this course with professor Butenhoff!

Learned everything from books (and the internet) and nothing from her. Nice lady, but what she does can't be called teaching. She talks and talks and you find yourself wondering why you're sitting there at all. Four two-page papers and one eight-page and discussions on d2l make up your grade. Only need to pay good attention to like four theories.

I feel like Butenhoff ALMOST does a really good job. Her powerpoint are just bullet points and it's tough to really take down information. On the plus side, however, the class is a joke. My table talks the whole class period and we really don't do anything. Take if you want a boring class but an easy grade.

LOVED this class, she is an amazing teacher. the tests are super easy, but you still feel like your learning something. i wish my major needed more classes that she taught...or at least other teachers were more like her. Great professor!

I took this class online during the academic year and it was really easy! Only two tests, final, one paper, little class assignments which didn't take long. The biggest part of the class is doing a 10 hour service project in the community. Didn't have much contact with the teacher at all but everything was very straight forward.

Mandatory attendance, spend first chunk of class looking up world news, always know whats expected of you, class gets to choose in class multiple choice test or take home essay! two exams and a final, not comprehensive. I had her for most of my global studies class and she changed my view on education as well as my world perspective. If you want a fun, easy, but also educational class pick Butenhoff. EVERYTIME. She was amazing.
