Comment:

Professor Lohn was the least helpful professor I encountered as a student at Wells. She was assigned to me as an advisor on my senior thesis. She was highly critical. Her editorial comments were unclear and contradictory. I struggled to understand what she deemed an acceptable writing style. I do not recommend taking her classes.

She is very rude to students. Does not hand anything back on time, or at all. She brings everything in the class back to gay marriage and rights, when sometimes it has nothing to do with it. Don't email asking a question, because her response will be mean. I would not recommend taking her class. Work load is too much! her class is your life.

She was once a great professor who still is on occasion however she cancels class frequently. She is never on topic and although you have to do the 500pg plus reading every week she almost never discusses the reading. Expect your work to not be graded on time.

Comment:

Definitely a liberal feminist, but I loved that about her. This was a class that took controversial topics head on. As a professor, Lohn is funny, engaging and interesting. However, she easily gets off track. She also takes her time returning papers and emails. Still loved the class though.

Professor Lohn is devoted to what she does, which is more American Studies than literature. Although the lessons are important, she sometimes neglects other teaching priorities such as returning papers, updating the syllabus, and positive reinforcement. She makes you learn, but does so in a forceful and intimidating way.

Professor Lohn is absolutely amazing. Although sometimes she's a little disorganized, she's brilliant and imparts such passion for literature, history, and social awareness in her students. She's one of my all time favorite profs.

While the class was fun and entertaining, to say the least, I feel like I've walked away without learning much of anything except more about the "opression" of women, and how women don't think along "logical" lines. As a math major, I find that highly offensive.

Mrs. Lohn was extremely subjective in her grading. Many times she would come unprepared to class and totally wing the lecture, thinking she was so brilliant she did not have to prepare anything. She was not very helpful outside of class.
