Ok, well, I wouldn't advise taking this senior sem if Africana Studies isnt your major. You won't understand anything the class is talking about. On top of that, there are 6 required books to read atleast 300 pgs each, and a 15 pg paper due in the end. Very time consuming. Dr. Nelson is very very helpful though, willing to work with you.

Horrible Teacher. DO NOT TAKE HER IF YOU CANNOT WRITE IN EBONICS OR UNDERSTAND IT! Majority of the books in this class are written in that slang, making it hard to read as well as not being at all intellectually stimulating.

Horrible teacher. DO NOT take for any courses, she will not respond for days and changes her syllabus around a ton during the semester. Very demanding, tons of reading and work, ONLY deals with women and african american issues, in a course LIT & CULT, there was not very much diversity. Only african american and women's sufferages. BAD TEACHER

This is one of the most challenging and one of the best courses I've ever taken. She is incredibly intelligent and knows her stuff.
