Comment:

Not a bad class. She isn't always clear about grading criteria and her lectures make you day dream about getting run over by a city bus, but her tests were online, including the final; although, this may have been because of the class time missed due to Jewish holidays and the debate, so no guarantee for future classes. Homework counts for a lot!

She is a kind person but acct is boring. The course was two tests, online hw, and a final. If you screw up a test your pretty much screwed for the whole semester. On the second test everyone did bad and she was nice enough to let us do test correction to get half credit back. Probably on the better end of the acct professor spectrum. not a easy A.

Prof Schain is a really nice woman, but she does go really fast through the course. In her defense, it is A LOT of information for just one semester, and she does the best she can. She gives the option for test corrections and extra credit which is amazing, and she really cares about the students.

Highly recommend her for 131 online, I got an A. Took her in person for 125, I got a B. She's not hard but you won't learn anything. Gives 2 exams, a final, & HW. Sometimes lets you redo wrong exam questions for more points, helps out a lot. Another prof you take because you have to. But if you're not an Acct major, I wouldn't take her for 101!

Schain has got to be the worst professor I have ever had at Hofstra. While she does post her slides on Blackboard, it's always a class after, and considering how she flies through the slides, you end up being screwed for whatever was covered. She's unclear, does not teach effectively, and is awful with updating deadlines for the online programs.

LOVE this professor. She is amazing and tries to be funny which makes the class bareable. She is very helpful and really recommend her if you are serious about accounting. Only take her if you are serious about learning the basics of accounting because she doesn't waste your learning time. Only 2 simple tests, a final, and simple homework. LOVE HER

Very sweet lady but not the best teacher. She either treats you like an accountant and you're already supposed to know these things, or she treats you like an elementary schooler by trying to make things really easy to understand. You really have to read the text on your own to do well in this class. She is very fair and lenient though.

I'm very on the fence with Professor Schain. She is a lovely woman! She always has a smile on her face and she tries to keep the class interested and laughing. On the other hand, Cost is VERY difficult and she just doesn't teach it very well. She tries her best. I don't think anyone could really teach it well though. Tests were tough, but fair.

Schain is great! She's very busy, but ALWAYS has time for her students, which I admire in a professor. She's a CPA, so she does know what she's doing, and the class in general isn't so bad with her. I would put her in the top with Burke and Venuti. HW is irritating sometimes, but that seems to happen in every class when it's through a HW manager.

shes very nice and understanding, but she isnt a good teacher. if she hadnt put the slides online the whole class would have done terrible. she goes through the material too quick and there just isnt enough time to fully grasp the material. Material is pretty hard. dont expect to learn too much.

Took her for 101 and taking again for 102...she is very helpful when it comes to remembering things...she is a good professor!! 2 Tests and a final...12 homework manager assignments with unlimited redo's until you get 100 and they count for 20%. I highly recommend this teacher.

Great teacher! Accounting is hard but she made it a lot easier. A lot of people did poorley on the tests but you can re-do them. Just study hard for them and use your old tests to study. Very nice lady.

Was very generous with tests and grades, and was very nice. However, it seemed like she had to cover up for the fact that her classes weren't really doing all that well, by giving unlimited chances at the homework, and being able to make up around half the problems you got wrong on the test for a better grade.
