Enthusiastic and engaging. You can tell Randy eats, sleeps, and breathes journalism. He posts all his lecture slides and doesn't seem to mind if you miss class. Read the PowerPoint slides carefully for the midterm.

Randy is a J-school gem. He's hilarious, super chill and an inspiration. You learn a lot just by being around him- he doesn't lecture at all. He's also a super easy marker (I got all A's) and the most flexible J-prof ever regarding extensions for Centretown! Highly recommended for good marks and an interesting course!

Randy is an amazing teacher and treats you more like a colleague than a student which everyone respects him for. He gives great feedback and is really approachable. He can be a tough marker and watch out for his very frequent news and style quizzes but overall, his classes are great and I would definitely recommend them!

I can't say enough about Randy - he is a fantastic instructor. He is an amazing writer and he imparted so much of his knowledge to the class. We learned many different ways to generate story ideas and to improve our writing from Randy. Simulated live reporting exercises and live newsrooms with tight deadlines helped prepare me for a real newsroom.

Randy was great, I really liked his teaching style. You're a little freaked out the first time he throws your story up on the projector to critique in front of the class, but it teaches you so much you stop to care. Great guy, really helpful! I'd take his class again in a second.

Even though I don't really like reporting classes, I actually enjoyed Randy's class. I really appreciated that he didn't pick apart my word choice as most other journalism profs do. He gave constructive criticism, marked fairly, and encouraged us to write about things that we enjoy learning about. I would definitely recommend his class!

Great guy. Very decent. Was a hard worker when he was at the Citizen too. Knows his municipal politics. Very laid back. Not pompous at all or full of himself, unlike others. Highly recommended.

A pretty good prof, a little disorganized, but really loves his work. Is a real Citizen reporter, which definitely helped us understand where he was coming from.
