Comment:
Linda gives written MidTerm and Final examinations. She is nice, but gives A LOT of work outside of class. At the very end of the semester she gives you one group project and a take home final-- the take home final is essentially the group project done again, but individually... like I said-- LOTS of work!

Avoid if you can. Very confusing. Assignments are not explained, she expects you to know how to create art, there is no teaching of techniques that she expects you to do. You have a very large group project, a mandatory trip to the DIA and another art exhibit. She's also very critical of everything.

I took Dr. Tyson for a summer class. There were plenty of assignments, and while I am not an artist, it was fun to have the opportunity to do something creative. There is a group project, but she grades very fairly, offering the opportunity to discuss the contributions of group members, so you aren't left shouldering the majority of the work load.

WORST professor I have ever had in my entire life. She flaunts her money and education consistently but never offers help. She is very critical of student work. We are NOT art teachers. Avoid her if you can.

very unclear for all of the assignments and there is a ridiculous amount of work. Not prepared for class, a lot of waiting around and listening to her toot her own horn. She did not make the material interesting in anyway when it had the potential to be a very fun class. Overall disappointed.

She is not afraid to be very critical of your performance. This class requires a ton of work, especially for only being a 3 credit class. It was one of the toughest classes in terms of workload that I've ever taken. She is not very clear at all in her directions either, which led to a lot of confusion.

This woman was the most degrading and rude professor I have ever come in contact with. She makes sure that you are aware that she knows more than you. She is very passionate about art but doesn't know how to teach it. She spends the entire class talking and tries to teach the last 10 minutes. If you can avoid her, do so.

She is a very passionate teacher. She knows what she is talking about. However, the art making is challenging and her assignments aren't very clear. She is not very understanding about personal situations either. She crams so much into her classes and you rarely get out on time. I did learn a lot of art from her.

Prof Tyson is really passionate about teaching and the arts. I feel that there is not enough focus on professional development and that there is more focus delegated to random chatte and on advocacy. She is very knowledgable but her thoughts are scattered. I wish the professors in this program had a more structured syl. that was more content driven

Very nice lady! A lot of busy work & many times lack of direction so it becomes a little hectic. Just stick with her, finish your stuff, put in some effort & you got an A. She really teaches you how art will enrich your classroom & your student's learning experiences! She's got a lot of experience & shares that with you

There was a lot of busy work involved and not enough direction on how or what to do. The class was fun and she was nice.Dont let her scare you out of the teaching field by some of the negative stories she throws at you:( Like most of Oaklands elementary ed classes, there is to much work involved compared to other schools.

This class helped me recognize the importance of art in educating children. The professor was terrific. She was understanding, knowledgeable, and made the class interesting. I really improved my art skills. The fact that she taught for years in public education made the experience more valuable. I would highly recommend this professor.

I thought Prof. Tyson was incredibly knowledgeable, thorough, and interesting. I learned a lot and now see the need for art integration. She keeps all of her assignments and handouts online, so the directions and due dates are very clear. I would love to take another class from this professor.

She's really nice. The class has a lot of work but she's pretty flexible. Her projects seem really hard but they aren't that bad. Take this in the spring or summer though, it's too boring to take in a regular semester.
