Prof. Florman is a wealth of knowledge in the art sphere. She has expert analysis on a huge array of art styles and artists, with amazing specificity in individual pieces. Her class was enjoyable, albeit it being very important to study and prepare to write very rapidly during exams. I would take more classes with her; she makes art intellectual.

Really knows her stuff and speaks eloquently; I loved listening to her lecture. The information was difficult, but very interesting. She's a hard grader but gives you good feedback on your midterms and papers. Definitely go to class.

Great professor. Truly knows the topics she teaches inside and out. Answers questions very thoroughly. Opinionated, but very open to student opinions as well. She gives out all possible essay questions before the tests, which require some critical thinking but are perfectly fair. Class was kind of reading-heavy, but you can get by skimming.

Lisa Florman gave the most verbally economical and concise art history lectures. That said, the material is densely presented, so be prepared to keep up. If you're listening, the material is fascinating and compelling. If you drift off, you may as well leave for all the good it will do you. Great class, learned tons, actually retained it.

the original description of the class got me really excited but when i got there i was dissappointed, not because the class was bad, just because it ended up being something completely different than what i thought. we talk about critics, specifically greenburgh, rather than works. florman really knows her stuff though, and teaches it very well.

Very good lectures. Make sure you go to class everyday. She'll give hints for the exams on a days when there aren't that many people at the lectures. Overall great class, but tests are somewhat hard. Know your stuff!
