very passionate about her subject. People that say it has nothing to do with religion cant see and grasp the fact that she says Everything from politics to objects are part of religion. while attendance is not mandatory, go to class. Daily reading "quizzes" are given. drops lowest 2 [incl final!]Slides are vague so you might have to take notes.

Class was split with Dr. Williams and Dr. Poirier's part was more interesting. She started slacking on putting up powerpoints and made them very vague so you had to attend lecture to understand even though attendance was not mandatory.

What an amazing professor! She is so passionate about the subject that it makes you get into it as well. If you don't like the subject, do not take this class. There is a lot of reading to do but it is interesting and fun to read. She has daily writing exercises so come to class! She is probably my favorite professor at Miami!

She is really smart, and I liked this class a lot. The people who said it isn't about religion are wrong, they just didn't get that all that Native American stuff is exactly religion.

She was a good teacher. Definitely knew what she was talking about and passionate about the material. Her voice does get old after a while but overall not bad at all. Very clear communication except she does go through the material a little fast so just make sure you can keep up.

The class description is VERY misleading. This class has NOTHING to do with religion. It is about Native American culture and politics. The class is so boring. Totally misleading and the TAs were terrible.

Do not take this class unless you need it. As everyone said, the title is misleading, it is all about Native American culture, not completely on their religions. Everything gets jumbled, the TA I had was very unhelpful and unfair, and I hated it. The second half was on Evangelical Christianities. I was upset it didn't cover a variety of religions.

Very boring...and the course is TOTALLY misleading. It's all about Native American stuff which was interesting...for the first 3 lectures. then it got OLD. NOT a 100 level class, I was looking for an easy A to balance out my course load but i worked my butt of and spent a LOT of time with the TAs who were more helpful than she was.

this class was the biggest mistake of my college course choices. it's terribly boring. i'll give her credit, because she's passionate about her subject, but she talks above your head and assumes you know more than you should have to for a level 100 class. i was really disappointed, don't waste your time.

The course desciption for this class has nothing to do with what she actually teaches. Its VERY misleading. She goes on tangents about Native American cultures and RARELY hints on RELIGION. This class was a waste of time and I feel as though I was lied to when I read the class description back when I scheduled my classes.

Taught the section on Native American religion. She definitely loves and knows the material, but it gets a bit boring unless you're into it. One big exam at the end that's not too bad. A lot of reading that is mostly required for the discussion sections.

She's an interesting person and gets really into the topic she is teaching. This was my first religion class and I really liked the way she taught it. Both the reading and the videos we had to watch were interesting. This was one of the easier religion classes I have taken, although there was a lot of reading.

I have been a big fan of this professor since her graduate days at Syracuse University, where I was an undergrad in her department(90-94). She is as funny as she is brilliant and open-minded and I would take any class she offers. -D. Rakofsky
