Readings were WAY too long, but the class was interesting. Also depends on the TA you have. Don't take this class if you are not willing to read ALL of the assigned material!!!

Interesting class but the readings always took FOREVER. if your not prepared to read avoid the class at all costs. My TA was very biased. The only way to get a good grade was to reiterate her opinions.

"Mandatory" readings for each class which takes about an hour. Each class there could be a pop quiz which accounts for 20% of grade. Essays are graded by TAs so try to kiss up to them bc their grading is often inconsistent and hard to gauge. Professor is passionate about the subject and always open to questions in and out of class.

This class is too hard for a 101 class. Readings are heavy and grading is very weird. I wouldn't take this for a gen ed but she does explain a lot in lectures so it's not totally necessary to do all the readings. Must participate in discussion to get full credit.

Worst possible gen ed class to take. If you care about your GPA do NOT take this class. You will probably end up with a C even though you've done all the readings and gone to every class. She gives unnecessarily hard essays to students who are not philosophy majors. Lectures are SO boring.

Readings assigned for this class are extremely long and hard to understand. Most people take as a gen ed but she assigns way more work than a gen ed should require. Her grading doesn't make sense and the grading of essays is very harsh. DONT take this class as a gen ed it's not worth the work.

Professor Tessman is a good teacher. Lectures are very helpful in understanding the readings. Papers are graded by TAs and are graded somewhat harshly. You must do essay rewrites for the first 3 essays and these are graded on how well you improved, not on the actual grade of the new essay.

Readings are very long and sometimes boring, but all provided for you so you don't have to buy any textbooks. If you take really good notes on the reading and go to lectures you will do fine on the essays. Essays are graded a little harshly though, but overall not too tough of a class especially if you just need it for a gen ed requirement.

She was a fair person, didn't show bias, she gave like two chances for extra credit. She showed good interest in the class. Its very annoying that you're not allowed to outside sources. I still spark noted everything just to get a better understanding of what was happening. Good Luck!

She can come off as intimidating, but rewards those who push through anyway. If you can show that you put effort into the class, you'll be fine. To do well in this class, just do the readings, think about them, come up with critiquesdefenses on them, and show some creativity. Doing this throughout the course make the 2 exams quite easy, believe me

This class is great if you are interested in philosophy. Don't need to do the readings, they are just really long and she explains everything in class. You have to go to lecture, that is where she explains everything and some of the concepts are hard to understand. Expects you to come up with your own philosophical ideas in essays which was hard

Horrible Professor. Boring class. Obnoxious "participation points" where if contribute could still earn only 1 point = F. Assigns readings then questions unrelated to chapters. Ridiculously difficult course material. The 1 and 1/2 hour class feels like six.

Easy as can be. Just show up, take in some information and write it down later. She seems pretty enthused about her field though, which is good.

Easy class. You have to go to lecture however, that's the only way you will understand the material. Don't need to do the readings, she explains everything in class. Essay's are okay but depending on your TA they can be annoying. If you can do good on the first test and paper, you should be fine for the semester.
