Liz Constable is my favorite professor at UC Davis so far out about 30 professors I've had the pleasure to get to know. She is super reasonable if you communicate with her, and very helpful and encouraging. If you want to learn the material, she will help you get there.

I really enjoyed taking Liz's class. She is really kind and easy to talk to. If you are having any issue in class or with an assignment she is VERY accommodating. Though this was a writing class, her lectures/discussions help build critical thinking. I was dreading having to take UWP and she made it enjoyable! I would recommend and take again!

Prof Constable is really kind, and as long as you're willing to put in the work, you'll get an A in this class. The concepts we learned in this class were really fascinating and important. The writing assignments we got were very creative - no huge 10 page papers or anything. I think this class is really cool and valuable. Plus, no in class final!

Do not take take her for Womens Studies. you may have heard that there are no wrong answers in this class, but THERE ARE; basically have to agree w everything she says. midterm definitely based on the readings so READ. class, essays, term are pretty context sensitive so choose your words wisely. Should have been an easy A but not w Constable.

She will have you read many texts from her reader (at least two for every lecture, usually long) and expects you to know a lot about them with minimal in depth clarification. Of the papers she chose to grade, they were graded harshly and she makes sure the TAs grade hard on participation. She's a cool person, not so much a great prof.

Professor constable teaches and treats students from her eruopen lense. Easy class but she needs to take diversity training. Used a lot of microagressions amd can be very rude amd curt at times. And truth be told lazy with her class

Great teacher! She assigns a fair amount of reading/work, but is extremely helpful when it comes to aiding students with their writing. Very attentive of students needs. Considering she is teaching at a University, I don't believe her amount of work is too much - you're paying to learn after all. Overall, a great teacher.

She's really good about making her class a safe space where anyone feels comfortable during the discussions. She can be pretty disorganized, though, which made assignments challenging because of the shifting deadlines. But, she cares a lot about her students, so if you have questionsconcerns about the work, or anything, her door is always open.

Comment:
Liz was generally disorganized, condescending, and harsh on grades. 2 assignments every week, way too much reading. She was very passionate about the subject, as am I, but the class was disappointing as a whole. We had one term paper that was 10 pages. One in class midterm. Take home final. Grades depend on TAs, some things randomly graded by Liz.

Professor Constable proves that her teaching and presenting of the material to students in a top tier university reflects on the issues and women discrimination that we discuss in class. She is a perfect example of why women are criticized as she is incompetent of having the professor values herself. The point is, DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS.

Possibly the worst class I have taken at UC Davis. Avoid if you can, you will save yourself from massive headaches and unnecessary stress.

Comment:
Do not take this class, the professor Constable is super disorganized she expects way too much from students. The class is based on reading her long articles and memorizing everything so you can cite the sources on the midterm. She's super unclear on assignment topics and due date. Massive headache just dealing with her disorganized schedule.

Run! The professor is a nice person but HORRIBLE teacher! Hundreds of pages to read each week, two giant papers and a HUGE take home final. I didn't learn a single thing in this class and it ruined my 4.0 GPA. If you want an easy GE please avoid this one!! She's so disorganized and TA's don't know what they're doing. RUN!

Extremely disorganized both in lecture and online presence (smartsite). Expectations are obscure and convoluted. Seems to throw things together at the last minute. Constantly referring to her TA's as more "wiser" than her. She may have knowledge on the topic, but does not know how to communicate this knowledge. Very disappointing.

Her lectures are long-winded and tend to get off topic. She always thinks she's going to catch up in the reading, and yet our lectures often touch on readings that were assigned weeks ago. She puts a lot of pressure on students by asking us to come up with cited examples for the midterm. Unclear prompt for final paper and disorganized at best.

Comment:
Professor Constable has an unrealistic expectation of students. Way too much work for an intro class. You have to write a 10 page research paper and practically an expert on every single class concept - understanding and applying them isn't enough - you have to memorize historical examples, be able to cite your source ON A TEST! Ridiculous.

i know ppl are saying that constable is very unorganized, unclear, etc. yes, she is unorganized and yes her powerpoints are lengthy and yes her expectations are not clear sometimes. but she is very passionate about the subject and makes sure her students understand what is going on. she is very nice and the class is very manageable.

Professor Constable is a energetic teacher and very sensitive to the diversity of the class, which was nice, but she is not very organized. Her lectures weren't great, and her instructions were often confusing. She's also slow to update us with assignment instructions. Otherwise, the course itself is very interesting and I enjoyed it.

Boring, but very passionate about the subject. Way too much reading assigned for a GE. Lectures are wordy. You'd find yourself staring at each slide trying to figure out what's useful information. Also disorganized, failing to upload prompts to SmartSite when promised and only doing so (days later) after receiving complaints from students & TAs.
