This prof is knowledgeable but BORING. I am dismayed to see I have to take him again. Piles on more reading than a full time student could possible get through. Poor choir of literature makes the class even more boring. Tests all essay and long. Source of grade: tests and papers.

Very nice! He is like a nice Grandpa! He enjoys Hemingway and Fitzegerald. Tests are difficult because he takes only one line out of a poem or story. Make sure you reread the material. Attendance is mandatory, but if you e-mail him he is very understanding. If you don't e-mail then he is not as lenient. He really enjoys teaching and literature.

Show up to class, participate in discussions, do your homework and readings and you should do fine. He uses a wide scale of literature in his classes but really loves teaching the Early 20th Century authors like Cather, Fitzgerald, and Hemingway. Homework usually consists of papers/essays written based on the readings. Loved the class.

He's cute. kinda like santa. He's one of those teddy bear type of people that you want to hug. But im not sure how he would take to hugging, so don't do it; but i digress... lots of reading assigned, i think his tests are a little on the demanding side, but you learn and that's really what matters. I'd recommend him. :)

Discussions in his class were spectacular. He really knew how to facilitate and guide a discussion so you were eager to speak and equally eager to hear what others had to say. His lectures were interesting and he's such as Thoreau expert. Loved hearing about his research on the subject

Split evenly between lecture and group discussions. He lets the students guide the discussions and then works off of that. Definitely has a specific style he's looking for in papers; I did it right a few times and missed on a couple of others.

Dillman is a nice guy, and reasonably amusing...lectures are boring though. He loves dialectic content, so if you dunt lak readin' stuff written lak dis, den don' take dis class. His analysis skills leave something to be desired. This is not a class for English majors, but it is good for non-English majors. 2 papers, 3 tests, 2 absences...

Dillman is one of the best teachers I know. He is passionate about the subject matter, and has a sense of humor and inquisitiveness that makes you excited to come to class. He expects you to do your work, but is a fair grader. If you are trying to make a point but don't know how to word it, he will help you. He is an excellent teacher. Thumbs up!

He's a pretty cool guy. He tries to lighten the mood with his own sense of humor when things get really quiet which is nice. His class basicly consists of reading a book and writing a paper on it. Every once in a while you do a grammar worksheet but thats about it.

Hes pretty cool. The class is long and boring, and you dont learn much. Just read 4 or 5 novels and write a paper on each one. He tries to have fun with the class and its pretty amusing. He has a sense of humor that is all his own. Pretty understanding and open to helping. I think he favors girls, but only a little bit. Hes cool.

He is a funny guy who knows his stuff! The only problem is that he TALKS the entire class period so it gets super boring and monotonous. He is an okay grader, and chooses favorites with those who absolutely LOVE literature and have to share their view 24/7. It's not too bad though...

I enjoyed taking his class. I took it in the summer so the reading was a little lighter than usual but we still read a Hemmingway book, novella, and other poetry. If you do the readings and participate in discussions you should be well prepared for the tests. There were three essay tests, a paper or two, but he grades farely.

He's an awesome professor that teaches a class that has the potential to be painfully boring, and instead makes it interesting. He's always willing to discuss the literature and the themes/ideas contained therein. I truly enjoyed going to his class, and I definitely recommend taking a class with him if given the opportunity!

Oh come on! Dillman is great. He rambles and is sometimes off topic, but he is so smart and is really interested in the subject. Of course he lectures and talks about themes, what else would a lit teacher do?
