Class was a great experience. She is a fantastic teacher who is always there to help. She is very approachable and actually cares about her students learning. Do her homework assignments and talk in class and it's not hard to get an A. Several small quizzes. Only tests are midterm and exam. The best part about this class is the service learning!

She doesn't teach Spanish for Healthcare Professionals for the heck of it--she really cares and wants to see her students succeed so they go on to actually help the Hispanic community. You learn a lot in this class because it's service-learning (learn Spanish in class, then use Spanish with real life Hispanics in clinics in Columbia). Take her!!

I am a former USC student. I graduated about 9 years ago with a major in spanish. I have worked in hospital system as translator. Back at school came across this website. Mrs Laughlin is the best college professor I have come across. Very caring and will do anything to help you. If you read this I wanted to say thank you.

She is the best professor I have ever had in Spanish. I have taken her for two courses and would gladly take another course with her. She explains the subjuctive better than any professor I have known. Super friendly, super smart, and super clear. If you want your Spanish to improve, take her!

Changes syllabus all the time. Half the time I had no idea what the assignment was because she changes it so much. She also picks favorites so if you are not prepared to speak everyday all class period, you will not be a favorite. Definitely take Aguado she is awesome.

Do not take her if you don't like to run your mouth a lot. She will call on you if you don't constantly talk up a storm and it's embarassing. I wouldn't have taken her except it was the only section I could get into. Changes syllabus constantly and we were behind the other 310 classes dramatically. Take Aguado. More work but better class structure

Sra. Laughlin to me was a fabulous Spanish teacher. For me, 309 was a lot of review, but she still challenged me and helped me a lot. She is a tough, but fair grader, so if you are concerned about your Spanish base going in, you probably don't want to take her (go with Aguado-Swygert or Cueto). She's great for the healthcare class I hear (375?)

She is an excellent professor. She is very willing to work with students and is extremely intelligent. Speaks both English and Spanish perfectly. She bases her grade heavily on participation and homework. IF you have the opportunity, take one of her classes...but be prepared to work!

I dropped her class after two days. I understand that this is a 300 level class and I am a Spanish minor, but is three hours homework a night really necessary? Got extremely frustrated that I didnt immediately remember the imp vs the pret on the first day and started banging her book on the desk. I would reccomend Cueto instead, very nice and easy.

This woman should not teach intro-level Spanish. When people couldn't understand what she was saying, she would patronize them. Yeah, hi, it's our first Spanish class. While I did learn a lot in this class, I would never take a class with her again.

this professor actually cares how you do in class. she is very clear and pushes you to do your best. when learning a language there is always going to be differences of opinion between teacher and student but you have to remember that she is the one teaching and you are the one trying to learn. recommended for any spanish classes she is teaching.

I took her last semester and enjoyed her class so I took another class she was teaching this semester. She has a great personality, and speaks perfect english and spanish. A lot of worksheets, pop quizzes, attendance is a must! participate in class. Def. recommend her for a spanish class if you are a serious student and don't slack off.

I found her to be extremely easy. My only problem with her is that when its time for class to end, expect her to hold you another ten minutes to say some completely unnecessary. Has no concept of time. But she's a very nice lady and her tests are easy.

LOVED HER!! Take her for as many spanish classes as you can. She's pretty chill and laid back, so class is relatively fun. She'll def keep your attention. Tests are what she says they are, she gives you a review. Orals are easy, so was the presentation. DO HOMEWORK! It'll make up for any not so good grades :)

Don't bother to buy the CDs- they are used 4 times the whole semester and are available for use in the language lab. Patient and understanding instructor, class takes some work, but grades are fair.

My biggest issue with this class was absences. I got screwed on my quiz grade because I missed a couple classes (with solid reasons) and she wouldn't let me make up quizzes. She tends to give the lowest A grade she can if you do well on things (told me I was doing awesome on everything and would get 93s on a 7-pt scale). Don't be absent and you sho
