Comment:
Dr. Dumas is a nice person & cares very much about what he teaches! However, be warned that you are graded by very few things (1 paper, 1 presentation, & participation), and no real-time feedback is given in terms of how well we did on any of those 3. While the grading system was a HUGE negative in my opinion, his lectures were quite interesting.

He is really awesome, I liked him a lot. First of all, just want to say this is the first class I have ever taken where there is literally only two important main things you need to study in order to pass. That is the Midterm and Final, and 10% of attendance which is not mandatory. But he is great loved him a lot, I want to take more of his classes

SUCH A GREAT PROFESSOR!!! You can tell he truly cares about the subject he is teaching and about the world around him. You don't need the textbooks, just show up for the lectures and take good notes and you'll pass.

I'm glad I took this class, mostly because of the professor. The tests made me nervous because there are only two... I suggest taking more detailed notes than you think you would need, because the written tests are based on the lectures. For an A you will probably need the textbook.

Dumas knows his stuff. My section got unlucky as there were no reviews prior to each of the exams. 2 blue books (50% ea). If you do substantially better on the final, he readjusts 70% for 2nd test and 30% for first. Didn't really need the book - almost all of what he asks about is from lecture.

Course grading: 2 blue book exams, 50% each. Professor Dumas is very experienced and knowledgeable in Environmental Economics. Take notes during his lectures (which can be long and monotonous). Use notes to study when tests roll around. Getting an A requires lots of study time and good notes. Passing is just about showing up though.

Environmental Economics is an easy class. Just show up to class and read the book. I just crammed the day before each exam and easily received an A in the class. This professor has a very clear rubric, easy grading criteria, and is not subjective at all. Take this class for an easy elective!!! I wish I heard about this class sooner.

I came into environmental economics a total skeptic and came away caring. This professor knows his material and how to explain it well. Grade is two essay exams, which you will do fine on if you pay attention and take good notes. Textbook isn't used much, so it is vital that you attend lectures

Professor Dumas knows his material and is the best professor I've had in my academic career. He explains the concepts clearly and makes them easy to understand. Grade is made up of two essay exams, which are fairly written and graded as long as you attend the lectures and take good notes. After this, I'll take any course he teaches.

If you have trouble, then just talk to Dr. Dumas. He is the most approachable, understanding, and caring professor at UTD. Easy Econ Elective.

Probably the best professor I have had at UTD. Lectures are always interesting and professor has an example to explain just about anything. There are only two exams and those count as the only grades in the class. You do not have to buy the textbooks - the only things on the test are things that are covered in class. Highly recommend.

Good man; intelligent professor. He is available after class and is very willing to clarify and explore questions in class. There are two essay tests. Take detailed notes, and the texts are unnecessary. If you have thorough command of your notes, the tests are easy.

He's a really brilliant professor. He tries his best to help the students. Yes his exams are in essay forms, but he allowed me to take oral exam so that I could have a chance to clear things up if he doesn't get my ideas (one of the advantage you don't have when you do written exam). Totally recommend him.

His class is basically the explanation of his theory of economics. Just read the textbook he wrote and and take good notes. If you can reproduce his lectures and book you'll be fine.
