Comment:
Dr. Worley deducts 1% from your final grade for every unexcused absence (high school, is that you?!). Considering this is a 100-level class, his expectations are absurd, and his suggestions are unhelpful. I would not recommend that anyone reading this takes Eng 195 -- or any class -- with this professor.

Dr. Worley is a tough grader with high expectations. Normally I wouldn't mind this, but he often wasn't clear in his expectations, though maybe his is when it's not an online class. When you ask for help, he will simply give you links to online resources that may or may not be of aid. I did fine overall, but it was a frustrating experience.

Weird Lit. I hated this class. He instantly fails any papers with little mistakes in them. It is definitely not taught like a 100 level class, and he expects way to much from his students. The lectures are fairly interesting. He's very theatrical, but he really doesn't know how to teach well or reach his students. Would not recommend.

Lloyd seems to know a lot about the subjects he is teaching. He isn't always clear on what he expects in assignments, however. The class is fairly simple if you go to class everyday and PAY ATTENTION! Most everything on his tests is material cover in class. He also takes a point off your final grade for everyday you miss.

Worley knows his stuff and knows how to teach it. The first few weeks are hard, and you'll probably fail the first paper, everyone does, but once you get the hang of what he wants and how to do it you will succeed easily! He sets his students up for success in English. Any English major must take this class!!!

Worley is a tough grader, but other than that, he's a great teacher. He keeps classes interesting and is crystal clear in his expectations and feedback. His essays are pretty short and simple, and page length is never an issue, but they have to be perfect in format and grammar. Be prepared to study vocab for quizzes since you won't get a word bank.

Prof Worley is hands down one of the best professors I have ever had. He is a tough grader and expects the very best from his students, but simply because he knows it's possible and knows the students in his class are mostly English majors. The papers are all given second chances, but for God's sake save yourself...DO NOT USE PRONOUN HEADERS!

Professor Worley is fantastic. His lectures are engrossing and extremely interesting. Although people complain about his harshness in grading grammar, it is not hard to fix mistakes, since he has you send in multiple drafts of an essay before the final draft.

For a 100-level class, it was difficult. Worley says that this class will determine if you should actually continue to be an English major. That's stressful. However, he KNOWS what he is talking about, and you will learn a lot from him. His class has a 60% failure rate, but as long as you don't use pronoun headers in your papers, you'll do fine.

Weird in Lit class. Worley keeps things interesting, that's for sure. He is very passionate about his teaching, but sometime's it's overbearing. DO NOT USE PRONOUN HEADERS IN PAPERS. He tends to insta-fail you for them. The class is hard, but once you pull through, you will have a greater appreciation for what Professor Worley does and why.

Worley is a one of those teachers that, while you are in his class, he will drive you crazy, but once you survive his class, you can survive any class. After Worley, your writing will be amazing.Worley is also a very captivating and knowledgeable lecturer. I would suggest taking a class from him if you can.

Easily one of the best English professors on any college campus. Worley's knowledge of the art & craft of writing is vast, while his presentations & mannerisms are wonderful to behold. He is an extremely challenging grader, but provides every tool needed for success, & is always eager to help a student redeem their grade. A truly great professor

Worley is very smart, definitely knows what he is talking about, and class lectures are interesting but he teaches a 100 level course like its a 400 level. He expects way too much from his students and fails papers for more than one grammar mistake.

Professor Worley is great! He is an excellent speaker who is very knowledgeable about all sorts of texts, the history, and the interesting stories about them. I haven't taken any tests yet, so I can't say anything about that. I've heard he is very strict about papers and he does have a tendency to forget not everyone is an English major.

Professor Worley is easily the best prof at UNC. No one has more enthusiasim for knowledge. If you are serious about your education, Worley will inspire you to do great things. If you don't care about your education or you think it should be handed to you on a silver platter, Worley has no time for your nonsense.

Lloyd is one of the best professors at UNC. He's certainly the most passionate. Everyone saying he's the hardest grader must not be English majors as Ezzaher takes the cake hands down. Clarity and conciseness are key. Cite well-- he's a stickler for works cited pages. Worley's enthusiasm kept me wanting to come to his class daily. Amazing.

Worley is a very strict grader and demands a lot from a student... However, he is at times very unreasonable, gives VERY limited insight into what he requires for tests and papers, and talks to you like you are 6 years old. I was impressed with his enthusiasm but not with how he structured his class.

I was a Spanish major. I took a class with Dr. Worley for English credit my first semester. I then took two more classes he offered because he is a fantastic professor. He has a knack for keeping his students interested and involved. It was truly a pleasure to have had him as a teacher.

Worley is one of the hardest professors I have ever encountered. He WILL not tell you what will be included on the exam, which is not good considering there was 8 texts for the class and a plethora of websites we had to read through. He covers nothing in class that was on the exams, and he assumes that everyone is an English major.
