Comment:

Professor Troxel was a really nice professor. Her class was very structured, which I honestly liked, and not especially exhilarating, but I had a nice time. Going along with the structure, she really cares about formatting and presentation of assignments. It is easy, but I do feel that she gave more assignments and work than my other modules.

Really wonderful professor. She cares a whole lot about her students, and really loves to get to know you if you reach out. She does a really great job of making complex material easy to understand, and has very reasonable expectations of students. Learned a lot in her class. She wants you to succeed, so reach out!

Troxel is very nice to talk to, but the module was kind of boring. Not completely her fault, more so the subject matter. Concrete dam stuff went smoothly, class was easy as expected.

Comment:

I took three freshman engineering modules and this class was by far my favorite of the three. Troxel is very well respected and really cares about her students. We had a few homework assignments and a final which consisted of a group project where we built and tested a dam. It was low stress , yet a lot was learned about civil engineering.

Class was pretty easy. Show up and get an A. A few easy homework assignments were done, but they only took 15 minutes max. Would recommend as a good intro into civil engineering.

She was incredibly helpful in office hours. There are "projects" every week or so that are like homework assignments, but much more intensive. If you do poorly on something, talk to her, and she'll more than likely allow you to re-work part of it for partial credit.

Troxel is undoubtedly the best option for statics. Annoying group projects but they aren't hard to get good grades on and help boost your overall grade a lot. Tests and final are very straightforward.

Possibly the best professor I've had in college. She is crazy nice and really cares about how her students do. The material in the class is not easy but if you do all the assignments and homework you'll get an A. Grades easily but there is a lot of work.

Troxel is probably my favorite professor at Vanderbilt. She really cares about you doing well. Surveying is not interesting, and she makes the material exciting and fun. Follow the format carefully for labs and you will do very well.

A lot of group works and projects. She's helpful, and most often her door is open if you need any help. But she's not that good in explaining the material in class. However, she's very clear of what her expectations are, so listen carefully and you should have a good idea of what's going to be on the tests.

Crazy about being on time- would give pop quizzes at 9:10 and if you got there at 9:11 you got a zero. She gives lots of stupid projects and homework is do every single day. Overall, she's ok- nothing special.

I loved her class! she teaches like a mom (i.e. she babies her class)... we listened to music sometimes in class and watched monty python one day. i have a 97 in this class right now. if you do the homework and take notes, you'll get an A. she's really really clear about the material too

Overall a GREAT teacher. If I had a choice between a teacher at 11am or her class at 8am, I would probably take hers. Tries to make things fun (but usually fails but still gets a laugh out of the class) and seems to be nervous teaching the class but still does a great job of doing it. If you ever need help, just go to her after class of her office.
