This is one of the easiest classes I've taken. It boils down to memorization and writing skills. She makes it obvious she cares for her students and wants to hear their opinions. She's a little eccentric, and it makes learning the basics more interesting.

Lorie knows music. You will learn to appreciate music. She goes through the history and how we got to where we are in the world of music. She is not too strict on attendance and sadly, many students took advantage of her caring and good nature. She is a gifted musician. She reviews the tests before hand thoroughly to make sure you know the material

Professor Kirkell is awesome. She knows her stuff and gives us study guides for each unit covered in class. Those help me a lot, since I'm DSPS. I find her class interesting and fun! She actually cares about us students!

Professor Kirkell was a really sweet lady. Although she is very boring during her lectures, her information is quite interesting. She has 3 tests + the final and 3 concert reports. She also lets you turn in 1 extra credit assignment. She allows a lot of time when turning in papers. I would recommend her if you dont mind looking at a wall.

3 concert reports, 4 test, she gives a study guide. Probably the easiest class you'll ever take. WARING though this class can get EXTREMELY boring at times, don't take if you can sit and stare at a wall for an hour. Honestly, if you can't get at least a B in this class then you should just drop out of college now cause it doesn't get any easier.

Professor Kirkell is such a sweet, easy-going lady! Throughout the semester you have to do 3 concert reports, but it is pretty easy. There are a few tests and a final. Don't even buy the book because she gives you study guides with everything you need. Overall, this class is an easy A. I would definitely recommend it.

Okay... I had an excessive advantage in this class due to my music industry employment, but I did learn a lot. Lorie does not micromanage: just show up on time, don't talk, put your cellphone away, and she will do the rest: gives you the study guides and all the answers; you go to concerts and write them up. Ample extra credit given.

Professor Kirkell is a sweet lady and very helpful. She really tries to engage students by asking questions and doing things to get your attention. There were only 3 concert reports which are fairly easy to complete. No homework and tests are easy if you use the study guide that she provides.

Great teacher! Not much assignments, total of 4 reports for the whole semester that had to be around 3 pages long. Not hard at all and included lots of listening to help show what music really is. Dislikes scantrons as music isn't "black and white" to which I definitely agree with. Would love to take again.

There are many students told me about how easy about this course, however, however, if you put your heart to learn, you will always learn different perspective to view this world. Your sincerity, dedication will help you learn more about music appreciation and your positive thinking towards everything. That is all Lorie wish.

She is a nice person, but this class was sooo boring and you'll sleep during her lecture. You don't have to buy the book because you will not use it. make sure you read the "study guide" because the test is based on the study guide. There is 3 tests and 3 concerts essay and a final test. She gives a lot of extra credit opportunities to pass.

DONT buy the text book, I didn't open it once. She is a little crazy and tries to be funny but is really easy. She gives you study guides for all the tests. If you know every thing on that you will easily get a good grade. For the Concert reports all you really need to do is make it long enough and you will get 100%. She offers extra credit also.

This class is SO boring. If you think you're going to be listening to music and learning, you won't. She goes off on tangents, and tries to be so funny but it you look around, no one is laughing. Just 3 concert reports required for the class. Textbook not requird.

I hate to do this since I am dropping the class but after three lectures I'm out. This class is so boring. I look around and everyone looks like they're falling asleep. Unless you have an interest in the complete basics I would not take this class. Kirkell seems nice and dedicated but oblivious to the fact that the way she is teaching is so dull!!!

She's a wonderfully nice person, but an example of how extensive knowledge of something doesn't make you a good teacher. Her lectures were messy and felt unprepared. Her study guides got progressively less coherent. Regardless, majority of what is on the test is taken straight from the study guide. And grading on concert reports very lenient.
