This is my third time with Dr. Lees and I wish I could take another, she's awesome! She comes off as intimidating the first couple weeks but that's to weed out the weak. She grades hard on the 2 papers but answer her questions and PAY ATTENTION to footnotes and you'll do fine. The 2 tests are brutal so follow her study guide to a T.

Mrs. Lees is the best professor I have ever had. She's also the most difficult I have ever taken. She is clear on how she wants assignments done and will help you out if you ask. Follow her "Lees Laws" precisely and you will do fine. Her assignments take a tremendous amount of time so dont wait until the last minute to do it or you'll probably fail

Her class was not easy, but well worth it. I am definitely a better writer than I was before. Come to class - all the classes - and don't be late, stay on top of the assignments. If you're not sure about something, ask her.

She is very passionate about her subject, but don't take this class if you don't have a strong interest. Her class revolves around taking notes from her in-class lectures based on her vague outline, so going to class is essential. 2 papers & 2 exams, all weighted the same. She WILL call you out on not coming to class in front of everyone.

Dr. Lees is wonderful! If you are a history major, take at least one of her courses. Her lectures are informative. If you do the reading, it helps drive the information home. Tests are tough but not impossible. Papers are lengthy and complex but if you do the reading they're easy. You WILL learn in this class. Dr. Lees is passionate about history!

Dr. Lees can be intimidating but if you stick it out you see how much she cares about the subject and students. There are 2 very detailed papers but she will work with you on them if you ask. The midtermfinal are very difficult with a not too detailed study guide. All in all I love Dr. Lees and will take her again. If you like the subject take her

She is a strict professor. Make sure you turn in all the work or she'll fail you!Great at giving lectures, but when it comes to papers, beware! She will call you out in class and embrass you, I wouldn't recommand her if you prefer a more easy going class

I took her class during summer school. It was a crazy amount of information! But she is an EXCELLENT lecturer! She has a passion for the subject that really comes through! Tests are essay questions-be warned, she grades hard and expects you to be incredibly detailed. I loved her class, but it was a lot of work, expecially during summer school.

If you're not a big history fan, be warned. Her lectures are very informative and interesting but most of the time you're writing notes and may not be able to truly digest what she says. Her grading on the papers and exams is hard. Papers and exams aren't bad but you have to do decent on them to get a decent grade like a C. Overall, I like her.

Serious about her work but approachable. Sometimes gets testy if students do not easily make critical connections between past and present class discussion, which can be difficult due to scope of study. Must read and take notes. Strict grader on papers. Loved the class, but exams are brutal. An A is possible.

Don't expect easy, her classes are a challenge. Her lectures are deep yet interesting and her papers are simple but require the critical connection. Several short papers are assigned and as long as you pay attention and connect the dots that she lays out for you, success is inevitable. Getting a B in her class is quite an accomplishment.

She's pretty much awesome, but be sure you follow her guidelines for the papers to the tee. If she doesn't want any footnotes don't you dare use them, and if she means one paper, don't bother with that annoying cover sheet.

Dr. Lees was a very interesting professor. She added a lot of extra facts that weren't in the book to make the class a little more fun. You will need to study to pass this class. We had 3 exams and 3 short papers. I would definitely take her again. Take her if you want to learn the subject.

Dr. Lees is the most challenging professor of history at ODU. She is demanding but fair. Her assignments are clear and she usually sends out more helpful hints. She accepts rough drafts and actually reads them. Definitely take her, and definitely learn how to do a proper footnote!! Don't worry, she will help.

She is a GREAT lecturer. History can sometimes be dry even if you are a history buff, but not with her. She adds character to everything when she lectures. Love this professor. Take her! She grades well on papers if you cite your sources correctly and historical content is accurate. Just follow the style manual she chooses (Chicago).
