He thinks he's funny than he is but he's still funny so that's fine with me. Lectures were interesting enough and you can tell he loves history. Wasn't terribly difficult and all around a decent class. Hope he is happy in retirement.

Man hes just an older guy and after being at BW so long he knows what he looks for in students. He's a really good guy if you open up to him. No doubt he's one of the harder history profs grading wise but you could do a bit worse

This was quite the difficult class. It was 100% lecture, and only three tests. However, you have to write A LOT on the tests, which are very difficult to do properly in the time allowed. Not a terrible class, but could've been better.

You can not understand him while he is giving notes. He just stands in front of the class and lectures the entire time. He gets off topic reallly easy which makes taking notes from someone you can hardly understand even more difficult. Extremely sarcastic and has no regard for anyone's feelings. Real dick.

The genius before is wrong in the fact that teachers are paid b/c we come here. You do not get to choose what you want. People come here to get an education, not a "whatever-I-feel-Like". Barone is the man. If he makes fun of you, he likes you. He has a wicked sense of humor that makes class go by quickly. Sometimes he's a little unclear, but if it's obvious that it will be on the exam, just ask him about it. He'll help you out. He's a very nice man, though most fear him. I used to! But now he's one of my favorites.

I absolutely hate this class. Do not take it. 3 tests are your only grades and so far I got a B- on the 1st one. Not enough time for tests so you have to rush through. And he justs rambles. Not very coherent. Do not take him.

What are you guys doing putting smilling faces on there. He is definitely not funny, but the most insulting, negative, and pessimistic person I have ever met. I have never learned history with such a bent. Thank you for only teaching us the parts you like and skipping over so much! I would never recommend this class to anyone...save yourself!!

Dr. Barone insults you if you have questions. He digresses and does not teach in any type of organized manner. last time I checked, History is in a chronological order. I earned A's for every History Prof at BW. If your not one of his pets and you don't appreciate his insulting sense of humoor, forget it!!!

His personality is quite unique, that's for sure. He teaches quickly, but is detailed. His tests are not easy, and you must study in order to do well. However, he truly enjoys teaching and the students in class, and that is the mark of a good professor.

He's a little intimidating at first, but once you come to know his ways you will love him. He is sarcastic and blunt but is always willing to provide his time and effort into helping you. Relax in his class and enjoy his humor, he's a funny old man who loves history!

He rambles on about nothing, speaks super fast and then expects you to be able to take a test over his incoherant notes. This was my least favorite class that I have ever taken(and with a B-, the worst grade I ever got). Even though he gives a study guide he is still a very hard grader. Good luck with him!

Take tons of notes every class. He speaks way tooo fast. Is negative in class and makes fun of people. Even though I got an A- in his class, I studied my butt off and memmorized all my notes for the studyguide. If you have tons of time, then you will do fine. But you need to study for like 80 hours for one test.

Lectures aren't the most stimulating- except when he get's on a good rant or story or starts threatening death for people coughing too much. Exams are a piece of cake- take good notes and he gives a study guide with exactly what he will give on the exam.

Dr. Barone is a good guy and is very "old school." If you take him, prepare to attend class on a regular basis and take a lot of notes. His grading is based solely on exams which are rather challenging. He is a tough grader but makes himself available to assist you in any way he can. Take advantage of his study guides and you should be fine.

I really was intimidated by Doc Barone at first. He is a good guy though, always willing to help even though at first notice he isn't. Study guides are the only way to make his tests preparable. Plan on filling up the whole blue book for an exam. Better then other history profs.
