Comment:

My biggest complaint was that there was no time to study the course content in the book with all the extra stuff he had us doing. Also, the final paper we have to do has NOTHING to do with the content we were suppose to learn in the book. The highest score he gave was an 81% on the final. Please avoid this guy!

Primavera is difficult because he is extremely unclear about what he wants until after everyone turns the assignment in. He is very picky in grading and is bad about answering questions in class. He'll just respond "I don't know, do your best". However, he was more helpful when I went in during office hours and asked for help.

I hope Louie is still not the medical school advisor. Students never liked him because he was arrogant, never listened to our concerns, and screwed up our letters of reference. I also advise students to not take any of Louie's courses. He doesn't know how to teach, and he is nitpicky about how you answer questions. Doubt this guy has any friends.

He needs to take major communication and etiquette classes. He seems very picky and take points off your quizzes even if your answers are correct. my advice is to write down literally everything about what he asks. For example, he takes off points by not indicating that Phenol Red is a pH indicator.

Condescending and sometimes insulting. Even if your answer is right on a quiz, he'll take off quarter points for details he never asked for! Also, be aware that he is willing to take off a substantial part of your grade just for formatting and grammar errors in your lab report, regardless of how well you understand and demonstrate the concepts.

Do not believe all of the negative comments concerning "Louie". Those people probably dropped out of the nursing program and are lashing out at all of their professors. Louie is passionate in his instruction and advising. I learned a lot in his courses and he was instrumental in getting me into medical school.

I ttly agree with the earlier comment about the Take-Home exam.Expectations not reachable.Also covered the entire textbook!Group project.exams and quizes.Novel/Paper.No time to learn.Microbiology is kind of important when your trying to be a NURSE!Class was academically of very little value.Earned 3 credits nothing more.Sorry Louie, it's true.

I should have found this website earlier! Louie's Take Home exam was ridiculously vague-- and 30% of the final grade!! The highest grade was a 74%. UNSAT!! If students have to be held to the standards listed in the syllabus, the instructors should have the integrity to be fair, clear and thorough.

"Louie" is rude and unhelpful. My entire class (and 2 others) went to the Dean with complaints about his unfair grading. His assignment expectations are unclear and he failed the WHOLE CLASS. Louie is such an anal instructor. He's tough, and very cold person. I would NOT take his microbiology course. Do youself a favor and take this course at UH over the summer. Louie has an ego problem, and that seems to upset some of his students, esp me.

Louis' course on Microbiology has a lot of ups and downs. The book for the course was not very helpful and did was not very thorough on the course material. If you weren't a bio buff in highschool, this could be a little challenging. Overall Primaver sticks to the book and is great to listen to in class. The projects are very open ended (we made beer in ours) and the tests are hard but possible to do well on. He's a pretty good teacher and even though 1000 is a core class, he expects a reasonable amount of academic pride in one's work.
