One of my favorite History professors. He provides outlines of the lectures that have all the information you would need for the midterm/final exam. The format of the exam differed for the two different classes I took with him but they were easy. (you don't really need to study if you go to class/go over the outlines.)

Super interesting class with a very engaging professor! You can tell that he really does care about what he is teaching, and it makes you care too. Going to lecture isn't too necessary as he posts VERY thorough outlines, but I went to every one just because they were so interesting and informative! Tests are fair. 10/10 would recommend.

He is really disrespectful to students. After I got my final research paper grade (88 out 100), I emailed him a few times and ask if I could meet up with him to discuss how to improve my paper so in the future I could use it as a writing sample. He never responded until today.

Professor Warren expects way too much from his students in a quarter. There was 9 books along with 5 online readings. We had two papers both 5-7 pages and the topic was pretty vague. However, he grades as though he has a clear cut essay prompt. His exam's aren't easy either. Just a tough class. If you want a challenge take him.

Great, engaging professor, you'll learn a lot (go to class!). Each one of his lectures is like a Ted Talk- well planned and structured, to the point, always interesting. I was annoyed by the paper prompt at first but ended up kind of enjoying writing it, and being really proud of what I wrote.

Super interesting class. Be prepared to read A LOT. His paper topics are definitely unconventional and really require you to think outside of the box. This class made me a better critical thinker and it opened my mind to a type of history that doesn't get addressed a lot. Would highly recommend to anyone who loves cultural history.

Great lecturer! Makes history not seem so boring (I'm a Bio Sci major...=). Exams are a little difficult so make sure you study. It also seemed like the exams and papers were graded a tad too harshly. Make sure you read the assigned books, and go over notes before exams, and you should get a B.

Great lecturer, didn't much care for the class otherwise. There are 2 midterms two 6 page research papers and a final, waaaay to much work for a history class. However, if you like CA history this will be a breeze. TA is helpful as well. Just make sure you skim the readings and review lecture notes, an A grade is hard to come by in this class.

Wonderful class and prof. I am a high school history teacher now and I find myself using the my lecture notes and retelling my class the stories he told us. I liked history before but after his class I fell in love with it. Just wanted to give him a BIG thank you for the time, knowledge and effort he puts into teaching.

A good class if you're into the environement but be prepared for a challenge if you aren't a history major. The guy himself is totally articulate and quite friendly. He is so structed (gives paragraph outlines and has really formal lectures) that I was lured into not having to write notes of my own--write your own, full notes on the side!

He is a great lecturer, it was always interesting, informative, and easy to follow! He has slides which help but he doesn't rely on media to do his job for him. His paper topics are fun and creative and easy if you put in a little effort. He is very nice in office hours and always answered my questions. Also, he KNOWS HIS STUFF! Take his class!!

Wonderful lecturer, definitely stimulates interest in topic. Good at integrating different source media into lectures (i.e. video, maps, etc). Lecture handouts very useful for studying. Friendly and approachable, Warren served as my thesis advisor and gave me advice and a recommendation letter for grad schools. Higly recommended.

Loved his lectures but there was quite a bit of reading. Well worth it and most of the books are pretty good. Essays are easy but need to be creative (not too long though). Tests -- matching is HARD but not worth much, easy short and long answers. (Expect a harder final), really a nice, great Prof.
