She is a great teacher! She is very tough and knows exactly what she wants, but all you have to do is ask, and she will help! Spanish is my worst subject and she helped me almost every day after class. Come to class and put in the work you will pass. Also, people who said she favors native speakers, thats just nonsense! I highly recommend her!

I liked her in the beginning of the semester but that changed. Although I know she liked me as a student, & I got As in both her classes, I didn't like how she treated some students. Some would ask her questions & she'd talk down to them in a condescending manner in front of the rest of the class, making my classmates uncomfortable. Not my favorite

She is a good teacher although at first she seems to be very uptight. All you need to do is make sure you read the book and do the homework even if its not all correct she helps you. Most inportant is to **Go to Class and Participate** if you act first she won't call on you later. Also do the study guides they help tons!!

At first I did not like her because she presented herself as very serious and intense. After a few weeks my opinion changed. She has a good (but weird) sense of humor and really wants her students to do well. She actually grades all you homework and papers so you really have o work hard. Overall, she is a great teacher.

I had Prof. Ciallella for 2 classes, and I think she's a great teacher. Definitely not an easy teacher though, and has a different sense of humor than most other professors. She is a fair grader, but you will have to actually WORK to get a good grade. Overall a good experience in both of her classes.

She is an excellent teacher that pushes you to learn...and doesn't just give you the benefit of the doubt that you know what you're talking about. You have to prove yourself and work hard. Think "Jillian Michaels" of Spanish. The people who don't like her are projecting their own failures onto this Professor.

I had read a lot of bad comments here, but I had to take this course, and Ciallella requires a lot of hard work, but honestly, I learned a ton. If you participate and demonstrate you are interested in working hard, you will be okay. Also make sure you have details and evidence to back up your opinions, or she will pull it out of you.

She is terrible, she brings students personal lives to the classes attention and she doesn't teach she expects you to teach yourself from the book. She thinks her class is the only one you take and piles on the work load I loved spanish, but she made it miserable and un-enjoyably she she takes off random points off papers and tests!!!!

She is one of the worst teachers I have ever had. Do not take her! She is biased and only likes the native speakers. She ignored the "white" people in the class and never asked our opinion on anything. She would always tell the native speakers that they needed to slow down becuase the white people couldn't understand. Very rude, thinks shes best

Let me begin by saying if you can avoid Ciallella do it! She is a very strict old fashioned professor very by the book. Plays favorites like it's her job, if you're a native speaker you're fine. We wrote 6 essays in FLSP 411, each one twice and if we edited anything she did not approve to be changed we received a 0 automatically. Be weary of her.

Excellent teacher. Demands the best from her students. You have to go to class, work hard, and participate. If you don't she will not respect you. And it will reflect in your grade. I learned an incredible amount from her. Is very knowledgable in Grammar and Lit. Work hard/Don't slack and you'll get along with her great.

Everyone complains about her but it's only because they DONT PARTICIPATE!if u just take the time to raise ur hand like 2 times each class you're golden. all answers to quizzes she tells in class, pay attention. strict but funny. u GOTTA go to everyclass. i got an A, just as long as u go to class & do the work. and TALK once in awhile

I thought, though she was strict about attendance and grades, Prof. Ciallella taught the class well. Having lived in Spain for 12 years, she was able to relate her own experiences. Lots of book use, but if you're smart about where you get your books that's not a big deal. I love Spanish though, so I'm biased :)

She definitely expects you to work, but if you put in effort she appreciates it and is willing to help you. She is very strict about attendance. I was very sick in the middle of the semester and had proof from the doctor but she still gave me a terrible attendance grade. Though I feel I learned a lot and worked hard, my grade doesn't show for it.

Cocky. Rude. Fake Spaniard accent. Agree with her to stay on her good side. Super easy class but only because I am native Spanish speaker. Her Spanish is alright, but she does make some words up every now and then. Oh but don't tell her that!
