Insanely difficult for no apparent reason. He's a great guy, don't get me wrong, but his quizzes and tests often have ambiguous questions and answers. I believe the current quiz average is 10/20, and the exam average is maybe 50%, most likely lower. People hope that the curve is curved in the end.

Ridiculous tests, people bragging about 12/20 on quizzes. Need to memorize EVERY chapter and experiment if you want a passing grade. Acts as though this is the only class people take during a semester. Most of class aiming for a 65% final grade...

Honestly, I feel like people complain way too much about Groninger. Yes, he can be monotonous, yes, the quizzes are hard, but this is college. Not a teacher that spoon feeds you... you actually have to read the text, take notes, and study them. Also helpful is the book's website, he takes questions verbatim from the online quizzes. Not a bad guy

Very boring. The hardest exams and quizzes I've had at UMBC to date. Even though the class is curved ridiculously, it's still almost impossible to get an A. Find people in class to study with and review his lecture slides a lot. Don't take this class at a time when you're likely to skip class because you won't do well.

Very difficult class. Makes learning the information very confusing. Generally makes examples up as he goes and doesn't even know the answer himself until someone figures it out for him. TAs are useless.

Really bad professor. All he uses are powerpoints which are useless for when it comes to math equations. The textbook is bad & not even a real textbook. If your lucky you'll end up with a good TA that will help as much as possible. he only gives two exams the midterm and the final. So passing both of them is a MUST if you wanna pass the course. Don'

Make sure you understand all the types of SPSS tests Groninger and the TA reviews. For the most part, I just studied what the TA gave during discussion and the text. Don't be afraid to ask your TA for help. The research papers are easy A as long as you follow the format of example papers!

By far one of the worst teachers I have ever experienced. Takes easy concepts and makes them difficult. The TA's are useless. I ask questions and they are no help. They don't turn assignments back when they say they will and get mad when you cant pick your assignment up during THEIR free time. Never studied so hard, and will be lucky if i pass.

He takes easy concepts and turns them into hard questions! The class material isn't hard to learn, its him who makes this class horrible. We had to do a presentation on a person with a cognitive problem and on the exam he created a question out of my presentation and even I had trouble answering it. If you don't read the chapters twice, you'll fail

If you don't know the chapters EXTREMELY well, its hard to pass the tests. His class is so difficult, 80-100=A; 65-79=B. He is so BORING. He just uses powerpoints and reads directly off them. Nice and friendly professor, but can't teach to save his life. If you're good at studying textbook material and teaching yourself, you'll do fine. HARD CLASS

I doubt about the seriousness of students who post rating in which they mix class related comments with personal attracts (e.g. He drools). Dr. Groninger is an outstanding professor who is almost always willing to help you and answer any question you may have. It is true that his tests are hard but if you study hard you will be fine.

I am 43 years old and a serious college student - and I can say without doubt that this is the WORST teacher I have ever had, bar none, in my life. I have never gotten a C - in fact this man ruined my almost perfect GPA - because his tests are INSANE. His grading is arbitrary - he gives zero points for correct answers. And, he drools.

Not a bad professor. He is hard and his exams are impossible. Quizzes are a little hard but if you read the textbook at least twice before the quiz you should get at least a high C or low B. Do all of your homework and you should do okay in this course. The TA are really helpful.

Made an easy class unnecessarily hard. Compared my exams to my friends' exams in the other 2 psych 331 classes and almost cried at the easiness of their exams. poorly written textbook with errors all over. TA saved the class

Yes, he does have a monotone voice and stat isn't the most interesting subject in the world, but Dr. Groninger is a very nice man who genuinely wants to help his students succeed. Though I wouldn't recommend him if you have a short attention span....

Pretty boring teacher b/c of monotone voice. Made his own book so impossible to really dispute any text material. exams are not multiple choice like in other 331 classes, but i do feel like i learn more than ppl in other classes. He definately makes the class harder than it should be.
