You're going to want to sit close when attending lectures because it is VERY difficult to hear. He clearly knows the topic well and does many practice problems. However, the ones that appear on the exam are more difficult so consider doing the harder problems in the textbook and finding problems that mix several of the topics together

He gives clear lecture. showing up in the class and get the example you will pass. But if you want a A, you need to do practice besides the class example and the assignment. Good luck and he will probably curve the grade in the final

In class he just keeps talking and talking, doesn't look back for questions. It seems like only he know what he is talking about. He goes way to fast to keep proper notes, and his accent does not help. He may be one of the worst profs at McGill.

Fair prof, the lectures are very clear although quite boring. Never bought the book, simply showing up to get the examples and going through old finals/midterms was more than enough. Midterms were reasonable, final was more difficult. In the end he gave the course a fat curve

Excellent professor who gives clear assignment. Easy to do well in tests if the textbooks were well read and lecture examples are followed. Willing to help students, overall one of my best.

This class is the base of Civil, an it is interesting and fairly easy. But he makes it extremely boring, you can tell even he is bored by his lectures. No real need for the book, just redo in-class problems and past tests... And go to office hours, show him interest and he'll help you. Final was impossible but he curved it in the end.

Very clear, organized. Class is important. If you don't go you will have trouble! Very available to answer questions outside of class. Very fair marker. No tricks on exams. We knew what to expect. I really enjoyed this class!

Lectures were useful. Prof was friendly, nice guy, always available to answer questions. I read ahead of the class, used lectures as review, and practiced A LOT of exercises. Was a lot of work but a good class.

Organized class presentations with lots of exercises and tips for the exams. Midterms and final were from exercises we did in class. Prof was very friendly, willing to help students outside of office hours. Lots of work, but worth of it. I would definitely recommend the class.

His lecture is kind of boring and useless. The exams are extremely hard. It seems impossible for me to finish all the questions. I found the midterms from last year, but this year, our questions are at least 1.5 more difficult!!! Oh, by the way, don't trust practice problems, they're so simple and misleading! Find a tutor is the best!

Took a similar first year course at Carleton, A+ and loved it. Took this second year, Chouinard kills all joy/interest in subject. Do not attend classes, read textbook instead. Simply reads through slides with no further insight. Does not respond to e-mails. Exams are very difficult, practice past ones posted on docuum.

This guy does not care about teaching. He does not seem interested at all during lecture. However, he is willing to help even if not during office hours. The assignments are quite difficult. Exams are extremely difficult and you probably won't do well but everyone gets curved up at the end significantly. I got a B- and probably scored 45/100

Luc seems to have little interest in teaching. His lectures are quite useless and his TA's are really bad ! Since he is usually the only one teaching this class in the fall, study for his midterms from previous exams since they are similar. However his final exam is much harder than his assignments and midterms so expect it to be super hard !
