Honestly, one of the best professors you could hope for. If you research him and what he's done he's very, very smart. Always good for extra credit, and doesn't really mind if you don't attend class. Final project is interesting to do, and plus its a month off from his class. Jovial, slightly hard to understand, but he gets his point across.

He was gone for more than half the class. When he's there, he goes over stuff that's mostly irrelevant to the class. The TA taught more than the professor himself. At the end of 8th week, Dr. Wise came in to teach (a total relief) because Katzarkov was gone. Class was extremely easy, but learning is more important than acing tests for up. division.

He's a total jerk, I have no idea how he's still teaching. He can't speak english, mumbles, has the worst writing in the world, and makes concepts 139845 times more difficult than they really are. I've never had such an incompetent professor.

Terrible teacher.. the class is unbelievably disorganized and his writing/heavy accent makes lectures very difficult to follow. Luckily his preparational problems are similar to the real exams. Try to avoid if you can.

I took this class thinking that I was going to die after hearing how bad he was. Once you can get past his heavy accent the class is very easy to understand. His class was entirely proof based and so even then if you read the book but didn't show up to class you would do fine on the tests. Excellent teacher to ask questions to.
