Mr. Montero is my favorite teacher so far at Normandale. He is very clear about his expectations and is very passionate about the Language. Attendance is mandatory so if you can't fully commit, do not take this class. I learned so much from this class and I was pushed out of my comfort zone. Montero cares about his students.

Great teacher, who is passionate about teaching this language; one of the best language teachers I've had in a long time. He seems harsh at first, but if you and your peers build up a good relationship with him and do what you need to do for his class, you'll have a great time.

Luis is the BEST. He's so fun and very passionate. The only downside (which isn't really) is that he expects you to be in class everyday. But you'll want to go because he makes every day exciting and entertaining.

Montero is obviously very passionate about his Spanish roots and it shows in his methods of teaching. He WILL call you out if you miss a class. There isn't any homework, which is nice, but also didn't assist in learning the language. The basis of the class and exams are memorization. I do not feel comfortable conversing after completing 2100...

Profe. Montero is amazing! He's clear, concise, and won't waste your time. Don't bother even trying to register for his class if you aren't going to show up. You'll fail the class. He demands you behave professionally, he brings out the best in people and that's why he is such a great teacher.

Taking Span2100 with Profe Montero was a breath of fresh air. It is been a long time since I been in a class where I respected the professor so much. If you're not going to show up, seriously, don't even bother trying, you will fail. You had better be ready to learn because you will finish that class knowing a good bit about speaking Spanish!

He is a very hard teacher for many US natives. The reason is because his teaching style is very foreign style. If you aren't interested in spanish, don't take his class. If you take him and learn nothing, it's because you really aren't interested. It's a good way to find out if you really love spanish or not though.

Profe Montero was an excellent teacher! He was very upfront about his expectations and as was appropriate, called out those who ignored the guidelines given in the syllabus. This class is not for slackers! That being said, we have so much fun playing games, singing, talking about real life concepts and just enjoying the language! Take this class!

If you miss a day, he'll remember, and call you out on it at the beginning of class. He can be extremely mean. He tries to teach us stuff, but tests us on pure memorization. I took his SPAN 1200 class, got an A, and absolutely failed the LPE for the university. I still feel like I can't speak understand Spanish at all.

I would not recommend. D2L assignments were VERY disorganized. mandatory one on one "at your convenience". I was there on time, but anyone who wasn't had to drop. He schedules exam times, even though it's an online course, and doesn't tell you until a week before the exam, making it difficult to pass if you have a job. Online must not be for him.

Personality wise- one of the worst teachers i have ever had. He is condescending, refuses to listen or help students. Honestly don't understand why he teaches. If you miss 2 classes in a row he will call you out in front of the entire class. He shows no mercy. Take his class and you'll be face to face with Lucifer himself.

Passionate, likable, no tolerance for slackers. The class is challenging but funholistic: you learn many Spanish songs, watch many Spanish movies, read many Spanish articles, participate in Spanish debates, participate in a Spanish mock trial, and have a potluck in which you must share a Spanish (or Latino) dish, and more. I highly recommend him.

I would not take this class again. If you don't care about learning the language and are good at memorizing things, this class is for you. But if you want to learn anything and get what you paid for, don't take it. He can be condescending, asks questions that make no sense, and focuses on things that don't matter. It's a shame. I like the language.

Luis was great, he's super into what he's teaching, but he talks super fast and is sometimes hard to understand. He's also super scary if you cross him, especially if you skip class or are late. His assignments were easy and if you study at all so are the tests. I would definitely take Luis's class again, I learned a ton.

Mr. Montero is a great guy, but he can be pretty intense. He has you sign a 17 page long (very intimidating) syllabus that is basically meant to strike the fear of God into students. He's strict about attendance, so do NOT miss more than 1 or 2 of his classes. Exams are pretty easy, but he's big on participation so it's not a class for introverts.
