Profe Ramos-Garcia (don't call him Luis, don't use just part of his last name) is a super interesting guy. I would listen to him just tell stories. But I didn't love him as a prof. There aren't clear grading standards, not much is graded, and his homework assignments and expectations are insanely high. Like you better not have anything else goin on

Luis may be a knowledgable man but his class is terrible. You have to show up to pass and your participation will make or break you. He had students teach some of the classes for him and blamed it on "illness" (yet he never failed to interject and his voice seemed perfect). He gives horrible (basically no) feedback at all and doesn't post grades.

Prof. Ramos-García can be considered a good professor if you take his word for it! His lectures are interesting insofar as you feel amused by his lack of academic preparation. He is very knowledgeable in the field of marketing himself and of overselling his inconsequential 'contributions' to the field of Latin American studies.

Ramos-Garcia was an amazing professor. His research and involvement in the community is truly inspiring. He is very knowledgeable, accomplished, and respected. If you'd like to know more about him, just google "Luis Ramos-Garcia University of Minnesota" and read the article about the Human Rights Program and how he has been involved. Truly amazing.

The class was a lot of work, but looking back it was one of the most interesting and informative classes I took last semester

He is the worst professor I have ever had, not exaggerating. Workload would be difficult if this was the only class being taken. He doesn't do e-mail, only his phone which may or may not be answered. There's 8 exams and you write as much as possible. About 200 pages of reading a week. If you can at all avoid having him, do it.

He is a really nice person and will take the time to answer your questions. He knows a lot about the topic/theater=politics in Latin america. The plays are interesting- the other stuff not so much. there is a lot to read!!! He does ramble a lot and doesn't always follow the handouts exactly.

He required a lot of reading and spent most of the class time rambling. It was difficult to figure out the point of his lectures and he made many historical errors in his lectures.

Definitely knows his stuff and most of the readings were very interesting however an EXTREMELY LARGE quantity of reading is assigned and you REALLY have to budget your time. Tests were take home essay format involving three essays. VERY time consuming class but interesting if you work hard.

I had him as my thesis advisor a few years ago. I had to change my topic three times before he finally agreed on what I was to write about. I was not impressed with him, though he wasn't a bad guy outside the dep't, I agree.

Not a bad guy outside of class. Will take time for you one-on-one. In terms of teaching style, his classes are run on a hyper-level of BS. Scatter-brained, insecure.

Very arrogant, boring and unhelpful. Thinks his personal life story passes for interesting historical discourse (spends alot of time hyping his personal achievements ). His wife is the chair of the department. Go figure.
