Lydia is somewhat of an acquired taste. Once you get used to her accent and teaching style you'll find that she really cares about her students success and will take time out of her day to help you. She works very hard on her classes and expects that you do too. As long as you can do the homework you should do fine on tests.

Lydia is tough but fair. If you're willing to put time and effort into her classes she is willing to work with you to succeed. I think I learned more in 1 semester with her than 3-4 semesters with some other teachers.

It's a shame most people know her for hard classes and a her grasp on English. She's a phenomenal advisor if you show promise. She will go above and beyond to make sure you have the chance to publish, attend conferences, get into a good grad school, and maybe even get your research funded on the side. I don't know where I'd be without her.
