Comment:

Taking History of Rock right now over the summer online, and YIKES. The only material he gives is three tests, that's it. You have to read the textbook that he wrote (very poorly might I add) if you can understand any of it. Tests are extremely difficult. Not what I was expecting of this class at all, take someone else if you can.

Attendance is everything! All tests are online. Only had one so far, but pretty sure there's 2 altogether. I actually had a really tough time with the first test but I met with him out of class and he helped me out. Love his sarcasm and honesty. The class is kind of boring, but you literally just sit there and then take the 2 tests. Easy class

The lecture is kind of boring, but Markuson is genuinely a good guy and is really passionate about what he is teaching. All you have to do is show up and take the online quizzes and tests. Super easy to pass.

He is honestly the sweetest guy I have ever had a class with. His classes are kind of vague but are easy to sit through. Super fun, lectures are great. Many tangents but worthwhile. Opera singer, will play piano and sing for you in class.

I had Markuson for History of Rock Music and learned more in that class than any other class at at Oneonta. He's always entertaining and really gives you his true perspective on a lot of interesting events in history. Most genuine professor at SUNY Oneonta.

Markuson is a fantastic voice teacher. He can be dry at times, but he genuinely wants to see you become a better singer. Class focuses mostly on the physical aspects of singing.

He does not talk about anything that is on the tests. they are online and they are 25 questions so a few wrong is a low grade. Be sure to take this class with friends..it will benefit you when it comes to tests.

This man is a PERV! Our class was just females and all he talked about was intercourse, his genitalia, etc. Every music topic was always brought back around to it! He kept saying he didn't cross his legs like a girl because he had something there! Disgusting. Easy A though if he doesn't offend you first.

oh my god i love him! he made music for listeners an online course, basically so you just go online to take the quizzes. you get two attempts and after your first attempt, it gives you all the answers! best course to take if you want the easiest A possible. i'm glad i chose this over western civ..

Comment:

Music for listeners is a fairly easy class. His only grades are tests which you do outside of class, bring in, and fill out the scantron. However, these tests aren't really the kind of questions you can look up, which would be okay if he taught them in class, but he doesn't. I got an average around 80 on the tests but wound up getting an A-. Weird.

Prob one of the easiest classes I ever took. He didn't take attendance, and our grade consisted entirely of tests that were take home. On the downside, class was kinda a waste, there wasn't much concrete material at all, he would just rant on and certain classes we would just watch movies the entire period. The tests were kinda subjective too.

Now Professor Markuson is an okay guy, but he is a HORRIBLE teacher in my opinion. To start, he shows irrelevant and boring videos in his class. He gives papers which after correcting every mistake he marked on mine, I still only got an 85. Don't expect to get an A even after working really hard.

Absolutely not what you expect at all. Spent 4 weeks on just the Beatles, has no concept of what we see as "ROCK;" honestly spent a couple weeks doing pop groups. Gives quiz guide ahead of time, makes quizzes tough. Thoroughly dull class, doesn't approach what we/I know as the history of rock, like Sabbath or Zeppelin. Take with other guy. Please

The problem with Professor Markuson is that he spends a month on the 60's and for a night class, that's way too much for it. It's not hard, however, the class really isn't about rock music as much as it is about how rock music has affected culture. It is a fun class, just not what I expected it to be.

This guy rocks! Seriously, he is so much fun and I always enjoy class. You don't do much work and you get tests but like once a month. You watch a lot of videos and listen to a lot of cds. He really has a passion for music and that's what I like about this guy. You should this class :)
