Comment:

Mme. Meunier gets a bad rap, and she's pretty tough and blunt, but she doesn't hate students of any group. Rather, she really wants all her students to succeed and much of her direct and blunt rebuking is her French way of helping. If you're going to learn the language, might as well understand this aspect of the culture too. Will take again

Comment:

Meunier is a FANTASTIC teacher, you'll learn more in a week than you did all of high school. Although, she does give homework 99% of the time, most of it is super easy and takes like 5-10 minutes but occasionally she'll assign something that takes an hour and leaves you confused. Overall its a pretty easy class and I would recommend it.

Prof. Meunier is tough, but you will learn so much if you are willing to put in the effort. She really cares about the students who are interested in learning, & so if you show interest, she will help you. She is the most dedicated professor I have ever found, but her classes do require a lot of work & reading. Come to class prepared to discuss.

It's hard to tell what she wants and she can be tough on students in class. No joke, she has yelled at two students until they cried, in class. When you make a mistake, she doesn't help you find it or explain why it is wrong, she just expects you to be able to fix it on the spot. People are afraid to speak in that classroom. It's a huge stress.

She's never clear on her expectations, she rambles on and changes topics without notice, seems very biased against Americans and men but is a fairly easy grader (in this class, at least). Has held us 30 minutes late (and it's a T 6 - 8:45 class).

I enrolled in a M 6-9 course that in reality was a 6-9:30 course with mandatory exams held outside of class--one of which was on Easter weekend. I tried contacting her multiple times during the semester with no response, yet if you miss a class you are destined to fail. Regularly degrades Americans, Christians, and men. Enjoys humiliating students.

I don't want to say "avoid Mme. Meunier," because I really did learn a lot in her class. She's a passionate teacher and will go out of her way to help you if you are genuinely interested in learning. What I will say is this: for your sanity's sake, DO NOT take a course with her as part of a 15 hour load. Or don't have a social life - your choice.

These other comments are ridiculous. She does not hate men or americans (though it could be argued that she hates idiots, which may explain some of these negative reviews). She is not easy, but she's incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about what she teaches. Few professors are as committed to students' intellectual growth.

The most horrible professor I have ever had. She humiliates students in front of the class. Half of my class dropped after her tirades. Claims to reject stereotypes while only perpetuating them. Unclear, unhelpful, teaches things unrelated to the subject, talks too much, unrealistic workload. Generally, a horrible experience.

Completely rude and degrading. Makes no effort to understand her students, while expecting her students to understand her completely. Expects you to devote ALL of your time to this class, even though it's only a block. If she doesnt make you cry, she'll ignore you completely. Most of the movies are traumatizing. Not a fun class at all.

this was the hardest class I have had at TU but I have learned the most. She pretends to be very clear in her demands but you will still find yourself confused and unsure of what she wants and she can be mean even when you work your butt off. However, she pushed me to write papers in French that I never thought I was capable of doing!

Business French Fall 2005 with Dr. Meunier changed my life, giving me a global vision of the francophone world like a garden of opportunity. Expecting & keeping high standards, as you would appreciate finding at a private university like TU, she upholds tradition and excellence. The best.

Meunier is full of displaced aggression. She herself lacks any teaching ability, is disorganized, and is unable to communicate any type of coherent message outside of political tirades and petty insults. Whatever the source of her anger, she takes it out on her class by refering to them (and Americans in general) as lazy and ignorant.

You might hate her at first but then you realize how honest and giving she is. Extreamly helpful, you are always welcome to her office. If you like challenges you should diffently take her class. She gets the BEST out of you. she is the type of professors who makes a diffrence in your life. push you to think out of the box. AMAZING!
