very boring lectures, super monotone but easy to pass since they give you the questions prior to the exam to study. You learn a lot of Women in Islam.

Comment:

Her knowledge on Islam is extremely impressive. I am a Muslim so this class was easy and I got an A+ but my advice to get an A is this. She gives you the midterm questions from before hand so, before taking the exam, be sure to take excellent notes and practice summarizing her lectures. If done, there is no reason why you can't do really well.

Comment:

Lynda is great! She's enthusiastic, very knowledgeable on the subject and wants you to succeed. She graded us on 3 short answer quizzes and 1 take-home test/paper; each one was worth 25%. For the quizzes, she gave us 6 questions and you had to choose 5 to study from, prepare around 500 words each! Take only if you're interested in the subject!

Knowledgeable but fails to properly relay the information in a clear and simple manner. Disorganized and doesn't follow her own structure. She often goes all over the place when she's talking about a subject and does not make clear what she wants on her tests. The notes she gives in class and whats on her exams are not the same. Avoid at all costs.

Comment:

One of the most disappointing professors on a graduate level. Will never take her classes again, or ask her for help (which she doesn't ever offer anyways). Once we met for a "meeting" & her place of choice was the local fast food joint. OK gee thanks that's one way to show you appreciate your students. Dreary.

Very good teacher and clear as well. She just wanted 5 essays, no tests. I basically went to class, copied notes and put them in my essays. Took this class as an elective coming from JMSB and ended up with an A-.

Prof Clarke is hard to judge. Even upon being asked repeatedly to explain what she wants from assignments she still remains vague. So getting a good grade is a hit and miss trial. Most material is interesting, but her dryness doesn't help that. If you know how to write essay and you are good in politics this should be an easy class.

This prof knows everything about the subjects she teaches, and most of all, wants students to get the best grades by extending her help. Requires lots of (very interesting) reading but coursework is relatively easy.

Exams are not tough, and the choice of paper topics is wide enough to include everyone's interests. Crystal clear in her lecturing, and none of the material is incomprehensible, regardless of your level of knowledge prior to registering for the class. All in all, a great class for anyone with a genuine interest. A+

I found the class boring and way too technical. She has a cold, detached, analytical mind and way of approaching issues. Although she is polite and friendly, she is harsh on grading, especially after the course evaluations are done.

Women in Islam. LOTS of in-depth reading. Not an easy course for a non-Muslim. However, you can stay on top of things if you do readings. Professor is VERY knowledgable on topic, very helpful, sophisticated, and an awesome lady. Highly recommend the course, but it's not easy credits - you'll have to do some work:) She's a smart cookie. I recommend.
